Complete information.
As a QRPer (low-power ham radio operator) I'm always looking for the highest campgrounds I can find for my getaways. (Because 66 feet of wire + 4,000 feet of elevation = a 4,066-foot-high antenna.) This guide unfailingly lists the precise elevation of each and every high-country automobile-accessible campground in the Northwest. While I may be the only reader who appreciates this, it's typical of Steinstra's attention to detail.Even in the Internet Age, you won't find one source for such complete information anywhere else.

Wonderful Camping Guide
I love this book! We keep it in our Westfalia camper and use it to figure out where to stop especially when we go camping on the spur of the moment. The guide is very easy to use. There are 25 maps of WA and OR with numbered dots for each site. The information on each campground includes the location, directions, contact info, number and types of campsites and facilities including whether there are showers or pit toilets. Each description includes notes on what sets it apart from other campgrounds. We bought this book when it was published in 1998 and are still using it in 2010! I just discovered there is a 2010 book and am going to buy it today. Nice job Tom!

Our book is marked, highlighted, and falling apart from use.
My husband and I enjoy spontaneous traveling in our Motorhome. We plan our vacations by selecting how long we will be gone and what direction we will head. This is the freedom afforded by having a Motorhome and being empty nesters. This book is fantastic. We have marked it with highlighters, "Post-It" flags, and even different colored stars. "Sea Perch" campground near Cape Perpetua in Oregon, is marked with a gold star. It is literally on the ocean, clean, friendly, and has beautiful scenery.Since we travel year-round, I like the information on campground openings and Motorhome size limits, facilities, etc. The quadrant maps, detailed driving directions, and "Trip Notes" are invaluable.I am a skeptic when it comes to ratings in books; to me, quality of an area is determined by personal preference. The descriptions in the "Trip Notes" provide an excellent overview to make personal selections. We have shared this book and recommended it to MANY people.
