We LOVE this book.
Did you know DODOS ARE NOT EXTINCT! (They’re just in disguise)? It is true…Well, at least that is what this book says.In fact, there are a lot of “extinct” animals who are just chilling out in disguise. 😂I am a HUGE fan of Paddy Donnelly’s artwork. What a HILARIOUS concept for a book! And not only hilarious but BRILLIANT! Through humor, Paddy is able to introduce kids to extinct animals throughout the story, then teach more about these animals and the importance of animal conservation in the backmatter.Brilliant, right?

Fun and informative!
For those of us who have naively believed that extinct animals are actually gone, author Paddy Donnelly has written a book that will challenge our thinking.Filled with humor, this informative read tells audiences that the animals we once thought to be extinct are in fact hiding out in plain sight! Think you’re looking at a toucan? Look again! It’s a Dodo! How about that elephant? Nope, it’s a Woolly Mammoth that’s shaved all of its hair!Kids will get a kick out of this read, but the backmatter includes a lot of factual information about extinct and endangered animals, so they’ll learn a good bit, too.

Silly book that children will enjoy while they're learning
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.Dodos are not Extinct! is a silly book that claims that many extinct animals like Dodos aren’t extinct, they’re just hiding in plain sight. Many wear disguises which are expensive, so it suggests that one of the top surgeons is a velociraptor! This is a fun read for children. They’ll giggle at the silliness, but they’ll learn about extinct animals at the same time! The illustrations are colorful and as silly as the words. The last page lists several extinct animals and when the last known animal of their species died.I definitely recommend Dodos are not Extinct! It’s my favorite type of children’s book…having fun reading while learning at the same time.

Brilliantly funny and beautifully absurd
Forget everything you thought you knew about extinct animals! Get this, Dodos are not extinct!Yep, they're living amongst us. And so are the dinosaurs and the the mammoths and many others. They've had enough of the fame that comes with being rare, and have taken to disguising themselves to blend in.Silly right? Well that's why it's brilliant! My son and his cousins have been busy spotting the hidden animals in every page, and laughing at the sheer absurdity of paddy donnelly's latest picture book. It's a clever blend of fiction and non fiction, with informative backmatter about what animals went extinct and when. It's also a fun conversation starter on the topic of protecting the endangered species of today and discussing the importance of preserving natural habitats for their survival. The illustrations, so bold and colorful, gives this book an extra comedic boost. Paddy's style lends itself so well to illustrating nature. If you like this one, you'll also enjoy 'the vanishing lake', which came out last year.

A fab book!
Both my 7 year old and 3 year old were delighted with this book. The illustrations are just wonderful, 7 year old has learned some new (extinct) animals and 3 year old enjoyed spotting all the dodos in disguise. A joy of a book for grown ups to read too, I really won't mind picking this one up again!

HUGE hit in our house
We absolutely adore this in our house! It had only been in our house for ten minutes, and my daughter had already declared it was ‘the best book ever’ and then read it over and over to herself. We had a day out and decided to keep an extra eye out for any Dodos or prehistoric beasts in disguise! It’s such a brilliant book and stimulated our imagination!

Fun, educational and beautifully illustrated book
I bought this for my 4 year old grandson. He loved spotting the dodos and guessing what they were dressing up as. He has always been interested in animals and in this book he learned about a new animal - the quagga. Great book.
