Very interesting study of of and interesting character. She was someone who everyone has heard of her museum but few have heard of her as a person.

Highly recommend for anyone interested in cultural history
Just needed to chime in here, saw the bad reviews, was hesitant to order, but DAYAM...excellent book, well rounded history...for anyone who’s interested in how we got to here from there, up to and beyond celebrity culture, highly recommend on many levels.

An Enjoyable Read!
A well written and interesting history of a talented woman, driven by money, filled with tons of historical details, many humorous, that moves along briskly. The insights on people and places, especially Revolutionary France and England, places Madame Tussaud in a strong historical setting as interesting as the Great woman herself.

Disappointing.....
The book was disappointing. I found it too verbose and the writer displayed her dislike of Madame T. within every chapter. She spent more time in writing about the troubling times, hair stylist, styles of dress and debauchery of those times than of Madame T. The writer continually questioned Madame T's memoirs and her honesty regarding certain chapters of her life. Certain episodes of Madame T's life were touched lightly and the writer wrote almost nothing about her present day descendants. I have read better biographies from other writers that have humanized their subjects, even when those subjects have been less than perfect.

A bit like wax--not really alive.
A bit dry and overly descriptive of the French Revolution. I realize that it was the French Revolution that brought Madame Tussaud to prominence, but I would have preferred a little less of that and more of her life. More illustrations would have helped some.

Incredible & Informative
This book takes you to the heart & behind the scenes of some of history's most incredible times. That this amazing lady was able to cope with her surroundings & become a survivor & success is incredible.

Loved the history and personal details
Book exceeded my expectations loved it. Gave me new respect for wax figures but what I loved most was what was happening during French revolution. The fashions and what the life of French aristocrates were like.
