This product melts ice and snow quickly and thoroughly. It is suggested that you obtain some type of spreader container to put it in to enhance ease and effectiveness of operation.

Responsible, But Marginally Effective
Depending on your priorities, Trumelt's ice melt product might work just well enough for you to adopt it as the environmentally responsible product of choice. Just be forewarned that it doesn't work nearly as well as the brutal chemical concoctions that burn through ice and snow before blowing up the sidewalk, inflaming dog paws, and strangling neighborhood vegetation.In terms of its ability to melt stuff, plant- and pet-friendly TruMelt rates a 6 out of 10 in comparison to the 10 out of 10 offered by the many full-blown biohazards offered in this niche market. Resembling in appearance rock candy or a disassembled snow cone, the blue-green pellets melt down through the snow, but don't have an outward heat-radiating effect beyond that: The circumference of its impact is limited.That said, it is an arguable "right thing to do product," and at this low price for an ample 50-pound bag, perhaps it's worth finding out if it'll do the job you need it to. Works great
This works great on ice. It also was fine for the dog to walk on. Good product and will use again

Way too expensive
I only purchased this because it was hard to find salt to use for my sidewalk. Didn't work any better than much cheaper salt. Would not recommend.
