Ralph Compton Train to Durango (A Border Empire Western)

Great read!

Bought as a gift for a Ralph Compton fan. He had not heard of this series and liked it very well.

Would recommend this to any western fan reader, author always produces a great story line. An excellent read for anyone.

As expected

I have no idea how this book got so many 4 and 5 star ratings.I have read all six books in the series, starting with the Dawn of Fury. The first was good and I wanted to follow the adventures of Nathan Stone and later his son, Wes Stone, but each book follows the exact same format with a bunch of goodies tracking down baddies. You could mix and match the pages of the novels and not notice any change in plot or character. The later books lack any character depth or tension, have over complicated plots, no sense of time or place and the ending on Train to Durango is over in about half a page when we were expecting a hell of a gunfight. The cover says it's written in the style of Lois L'Amour, well that's like saying Fred Flintstone acts in the style of Robert DeNiro.
