Safavieh has a family of rugs that this Venice rug seems to belong to. The other 2 are the Paris rug and the luxe rug. I've attached a photo comparison of all 3 as I think that shows the differences even better than words!This Venice rug is made of shiny, thin fibers mixed in with thicker fibers that look like yarn to me. The Paris rug is ONLY made of the shiny fibers, no yarns mixed in. This makes it much thinner and more slippery. The Venice rug has a lot of body and feels much more substantial and cushy underfoot.I've been using the Venice rug for about 2 years now and the yarns do get a bit matted down but all the shiny fibers in it do not mat and help keep the rug from looking worn.I'm able to vaccuum it with my shark vacuum set to hard floors without a problem. And my cats have made several "messes" on it and it cleaned up great and looked good as new afterwards. I used my regular Resolve carpet cleaner on it.It is very similar to the luxe rug and it's hard to tell them apart unless they're right next to each other. But the luxe rug is made of the shiny fibers and yarns about 5x the thickness of the yarns in the Venice. It is SO THICK. If you have doors nearby you definitely need to stick with the Venice because they will not open over the luxe.I've had no problems with shedding or odor or anything from any of the 3 rugs. The Venice and the luxe are both amazing rugs in my opinion and 2 years later I'm very pleased with them both still. The price of this rug is so good for how nice it looks and feels. Beautiful Carpets.... definitely recommend... quality product.., great price!!!REVIEW UPDATE!!!!! I HAVE HAD THE RUGS FOR NEARLY A YEAR... the shedding is extremely bad and never ending, and I mean never ever ending!!! They were beautiful rugs at first, and felt good, but in just a short time the rugs are started to look like a matted dog, not attractive at all. and I can feel all the bumps etc... it has ended up being a waste. A good price will not make up for no longevity of use, I have owned them a little less than a year.., and I already need to replace all three rugs .., so its actually like throwing money away! If you want a rug like this, ONLY BUY the real thing.., these rugs just look good, they are for display only, not for actual use...

I usually don’t write reviews but since reading reviews before my purchase of my ideal rug helped tremendously with my decision, I decided it is only right. First, let me tell you, the pictures definitely doesn’t do justice. This rug is sophisticated, chic, comfy, silky , modern and lastly but certainly not least of excellent quality. The delivery time was awesome, only two days with Amazon Prime and free so you can’t beat that! No weird smell besides the smell of something new and the color of champagne is so gorgeous!! I will definitely be purchasing another in a different color for my bedroom soon from Safavieh. Maybe white since I can protect it from my kids! Lastly the texture of this rug is super silky but it has texture due to the shag mixture in between the much finer threads making this rug feel thick and plush as well as silky soft under your feet. I have to admit, at first I was disappointed since this rug was marked down the very next day of my purchase and Amazon would not price match the price difference But after my rug was delivered and I unrolled this beauty, all I can say is it was Worth it...

Ahhmazing!!! After purchasing and returning 3 other rugs, from Safavieh... I found the perfect one! KEEP READINGThe first rug I tired was the safavieh california shag= PRO: plush & soft to walk on, didn’t need a rug pad, great for kids, and the color was a blend of shades which gave visual dimension/CON: was not fancy/stylish, made my decor look less “glam”.The second rug was safavieh paris shag = PRO: fine stands for a slight shiny look that adds glamor/CON: not as plush & would need rug pad, looks like it would flatten or matte easily, slippery to walk on, not ideal for kids.The third rug and my FAVORITE was this safavieh venice shag! PRO: perfect combination of the 2 rugs above, plush to step on, no need for rug pad (unless you want more cushion), the thin shiny stands are longer than the thicker shag so visually it looks glamorous & slightly shiny but the shorter stands give it fluff & comfort. SMELL: initially there is a slight new rug chemical smell when you unroll but it was gone in about 2 days (not overpowering at all). COLOR: I got the Silver and it’s gorgeous. The stands go different directions so some areas look light silver and others medium grey but the perfect combo of you have decorated with gray/white/black/gold.If like me you having a Goldilocks & the 3 Rugs dilemma, choose the VENICE darling!!!
