This is a santoku styled kitchen knife with a 6in long blade, 11 in overall. The handle is Lignum vitae, one of the hardest densest woods known. The blade is forged 1095 and heat treated to a high hardness for edge retention (RC61-62) It is a high carbon steel, not stainless. It may discolor with use, but washing, and drying it right away will prevent rust, as will a bit of oil.
