What I need from a torch is instant light from the press of a button. Unfortunately, this torch does not provide this very basic feature. You have to press the button, and then press it again within 3 seconds, then double press it, etc., to work your way through a menu system until you eventually get to the full power mode. The menu tree is definitely different to the one shown in the quick user guide, so I still really arrive at the full power mode more or less by chance by randomly pressing the button. In my line of work, I do not have time for this.The torch is freely programmable, so there may be a solution to this problem. It is therefore a pity that the link to the online manual ― no hardcopy provided ― never worked from the day I purchased the torch. This is the sort of stuff I am used to from short-lived Chinese manufacturers, not from a renowned company like LED Lenser.Build quality and provided light beam are second to none, but none of that matters if you cannot actually switch the torch on at a rush when you need to turn the night into day.Update 25 Sep 2023: Ok, I have now figured out how to reprogram the torch so that it goes to full power when I first press the on/off button, hence now upgraded to four stars. Still somewhat grumpy about the manual not being available.
