This is an interesting book with a number of do-it-yourself jewelry making ideas..this is more a book of ideas than professional jewelry construction. Some of the required/suggested components may not be easily available (for example, resin rose beads, huayruro seeds, celtic box clasps, etc.) and the finishing techniques may require a deeper understanding of jewelry construction techniques than presented in this book. That being said, the author has provided a nice assortment of inspirational jewelry pieces that can be assembled on your own terms. I would have liked to see jewelry more representative of the actual styles from the geographic areas mentioned in this book. Instead, it is playful, whimsical and fun.

Anne has written a unique and interesting approach to this subject. She does provide detailed instructions and illustrations of how to make some beautiful and unusual pieces of jewelry, including information on sources of materials and tools needed. However, the thing that makes this book truly a pleasure to read are her stories accompanying each piece. She provides fictional travel experiences featuring art from 25 countries and several regions of the world in a fashion similar to the Peterman Catalog of the Seinfeld show. Her prose is richly evocative of the sights, sounds and smells of distant lands. I am not really into crafts, but I read the book just for the stories and color photos of her creations. Anne is truly talented and creative. I highly recommend the book!

I thought this book was well written, the instructions easy to follow, illustrations clear. I found that this book also lent itself to the individual reader a chance to experiment with colors, components of the individual readers choice.

This book surprised me with beautiful designs I could accomplish without spending and exorbitant amount of money. The book is well-written and clear. It gives credit to the cultures the designs are inspired by.

This book is filled not only with beautiful projects, but terrific photography and beautiful prose. Highly recommended!!

I was drawn to this book because of its title, but got captivated by the jewelry inside. I can't wait to try making a few of the pieces!
