Good advice, even if you are not separating. Communication is key to any relationship. Even though I read this book after we decided not to separate after 21 years of marriage, this book plus marriage counseling and open communication has helped me continue seeing our relationship from both sides.
I would recommend this book to any couple, married or dating, because in all relationships, we experience difficult decisions and we should all know how to communicate our feelings with our partners.

Excellent read
Bachicchio outlines steps to pursue while in a relationship break. I think the fundamental ideas and practices he advocates are use practical and easy to work with. During my owned troublesome situation, this book gave me a lot of hope that things will work out as long as I learn to love myself and take of my needs while learning how to be compassionate by listening and understanding to my partner. A relationship break doesn't have to be a disaster and it can in fact empower yourself and the relationship.

relationships are unique
This book is an easy read, and helps you think about your own relationships. However, it is difficult to relate to the highlighted stories as they will never be exactly your personal situation. I found myself seeing the issues with my partner and their approach to separation, more than solutions to get past our current issues. Communications, love, forgiveness, and commitment are keys to relationships, and this book may give you insight for a way forward...but you will likely not find the silver bullet inside the cover. It takes hard work.

best book I have read in a long time. very thorough.
This book is by far the best book I have read on the subject of separation. The author is extremely thorough in describing various scenarios of different couples, their conflict, their type of separation, process of resolution or dissolution. It touches on how to talk to the children, goals during separation, how long to separate, and what kind of separation to use for different cases. I appreciate the depth and length the author went in sharing his experience in this book to help others.

Worthwhile purchase for One hesitant to separate at all
Learned new stuff from this book, which helped me understand why total separation was necessary in the first place versus week long vacations from each other; and other tips which will help me decide whether this separation is temporary, or forever.

Fantastic suggestion by my councilor
Fantastic suggestion by my councilor. Was a very helpful guide during my separation/divorce, allowing me to use the trauma as an opportunity to better examine myself, and how I engage in relationships. The lessons learned from this book have proven to be instrumental in the success of my current relationship - I am a much better man and partner because of it!

Average - nothing really new here
Thought this book would provide me with a different view or options for taking space in a relationship. In the end it just explains what it means and why it might be important. But if you are at the point where you are considering this then I don't think this book will really help you to make that step or to give you some additional guidance on how to approach it, how long to take space for or when to consider.A much better read is the book More than two - as it looks at the personal challenges of facing change in relationships and provides different models for how such change can look and develop.
