Our daughter thought we were kidding when we told her that we made them. So, we thought we'd offer them online. At Whalehead, we make the highest quality Tobacco Stick Coasters on the market at a very fair price. Our coasters cost a lot to produce, unlike many cheaper coasters on the market, but we refuse to offer low quality products. I've had a set of these coasters for well over a year and I have yet to see a drop of water on any of my tables. The wood soaks up the liquid and completely dry out overnight. We want you to have a historic handmade product from the US that will last a lifetime.These Whalehead Tobacco Stick Coasters are manufactured in North Carolina:1) Many of the tobacco sticks we use to manufacture the coasters are over 100 years old and were used to cure tobacco in the southeastern US. We seek out farmers that have left the tobacco business who have an inventory of the tobacco sticks. After purchasing the sticks we clean and wash any dirt off the sticks so they can be further processed.2) We then use a saw to cut the sticks to the correct length.3) After being cut, holes are then drilled and rope is cut and fished through the holes to hold the sticks together, creating a beautiful set of coasters.
