Replacement Capacitor for Hayward Northstar Pool Pump
I installed this capacitor on my frozen/buzzing Hayward Northstar pump. Since they do not make Northstar pumps anymore, and the price of a new model pump is more than $500, I decided to fix the old Northstar pump myself. Was happy that the only problem was that the old capacitor was bad on the motor: checked at 28 microfarads, should be 35 microfarads - so it was finished. The major pool supply store on the West coast (you know who I am talking about) wanted about $50 for a replacement capacitor - but this one was a quarter the price. Even though this capacitor is smaller, it is rated equivalently. I had to bend the capacitor clamp a little so that it would secure the capacitor when it was tightly fastened down, but it fit fine, and works just like the old one.

My Hayward Northstar pump just stopped and only hummed. ...
My Hayward Northstar pump just stopped and only hummed. Scheduled a pool repair guy to stop by at $95 until I researched possible issues online. Found that a capacitor was likely the issue and this one was an exact match to the original. Cancelled the service call and got this part for less than $10 ... fixed the pump with less than 10 minutes of labor.

It worked fine for replacing my spa's dually pump motor defective capacitor that was causing motor to not start.
My Cal Spa hao tub was on it's 2nd dually pump motor, an obsolete factory item I replaced a year sooner with a near compatible fir. It began humming on start-up after one year, causing the pump to not run and draw high current on start-up, tripping the motor's internal overload safety device. The least expensive repair possibility would come by replacing this capacitor. It worked fine!!!

Works on Jacuzzi Magnum Pump 1 1/2 HP Pump
After the start capacitor went out on my Jacuzzi Magnum Pump 1 1/2 HP Pump (15UMF-S or 94027115) I bought this to replace it. The original was so badly rusted there were no recognizable labels of any sort. I took a gamble on this one because of the dimensions and other pool pump reviews and all is well again! If your pump is failing to start (humming noise) you probably need a new start capacitor and if you have the Jacuzzi Magnum this is the capacitor for you.
