SwypeSound Mini Portable Bamboo Wood Boombox / Personal Speaker

I ordered one of these after reading the favorable reviews and the price seemed reasonable, but I'm not at all impressed. The bamboo box itself is attractive and has a nice retro look and feel to it, although mine did have some glue remnants that has to be picked off presumably leftover from assembly. The most disappointing thing is that only 1 of the 4 speakers actually works, and as a result, sound quality is very poor. I'm hoping this one is just defective and that a replacement will live up to the previous reviews, this one surely didn't. There is also no contact information for the company other than an email address, so we'll see how good customer service is. For now, I honestly can't give more than 1 star as my iPhone on speaker sounds better than this thing does.Update, I am happy to say that these guys have FANTASTIC customer service! As mentioned in my initial review, I contacted them by email and was very surprised when I got a reply back within minutes! It was late in the day for me here on the West-Coast and I know they are back East too, so kudos to Vik for going the extra mile. They apologized for the inconvenience and promptly offer to cross-ship me a replacement unit in an effort to speed up the delivery since I'd ordered the original for my daughters birthday - They even covered the shipping.The new unit works perfectly, sounds great and my daughter is thrilled. I love the ability of this thing to use flash media for a music source rather than a traditional CD, which would only skip with the kids carrying it around. I have so many older camera cards lying around that work perfectly for loading up with the kids favorite music.I'm happily upgrading my rating to 5 stars and would without hesitation, recommend this product to anyone.

This little guy looks really cool….. Thats about where it stops. Unfortunately this radio being very nice to look at is Junk. The Radio part never worked could not get one station. The SD Card was cool but completely Un-User friendly. None of the buttons make any sense. The two "speaker" looking things on the front are not speakers. They are Fake Speakers. Why? I have no Idea. Would have been better to have put some controls there that make sense. With all of that said It sounds OK and looks really cool. That made the purchase ok for me UNTILL a week in it just stopped working. Kaput…. I also noticed that the price went down to $30 something on amazon. I payed $60. SwypeSound did issue me a full refund (Including return shipping that I had to front) so if you wana give it a try go for it. Maybe I got a lemon. In my opinion Swype should stick to gloves or get someone with some design sense to redesign the controls. I ended up getting an "Ontz Curve" Not quite as cool looking but has amazing sound and great features with controls that MAKE SENSE….for 1/2 the price.

Purchased it. Then Returned it.The sound quality was okay for these speakers for the price. The build quality, however, was just so-so. When I first opened up the box, there were glue markings where all four speakers were located (I thought maybe I had a poorly refurbished version) but I gave the sound system a try anyway.It does what it's supposed to do, plays radio and MP3s from the SD card slot, as well as playing music from my phone when the 3.5mm jack is attached to it.The really really big turn off for me was not having the ability to see what radio station you were on. I found it quite annoying that there was no screen to tell you what station you were on. & there was also no way to save any presets for the radio stations.Oh, and the remote that came with the package was pretty flimsy. It felt like it could break any time.So, buyers beware of this product. It looks kinda cool, but it would be better if they made some minor adjustments to it to make it a better sound system.

The little "bamboobox" is very cute, takes up very little space, and has an awesome sound for what it is. In my case, brand new out of the box, the internal battery will not charge. It sounds great while connected via USB to my computer. I don't know if it will last playing it this way.I sent questions regarding this to Amazon. I wasn't mad, wasn't asking to exchange for another one, just asking some questions. They determined I was not happy. They said they were unable to deal with a return and replacement from this seller, so they refunded all of my money and allowed me to keep the unit to boot! WAY TO GO AMAZON! So, for now, I have an awesome sounding little speaker unit at work that was FREE that I plug into my computer. I don't know how long it will last. I cannot operate it without it being plugged in either via USB or AC adapter (not included but I had one). It is also very difficult to find FM radio channels as there are no presets. You land on one, better just keep it! It's a pretty goofy little unit.Amazon will stand behind what they sell 100%. No worries there!

I purchased this hoping it would be decent quality and work as described. It did not. One of the speakers was blown and it sounded horrible. It was beautiful and had a lot of cool features and appeared to be made well, but a blown speaker out of the box is not a good sign that this company uses any sort of quality control. The seller did take the item back for a prompt and full refund, but my wife and I were disappointed that it didn't work for me since it was a Christmas present from her and one of the items I wanted the most for Christmas.

The frequency response of 20hz-20,000hz is a laugh. It's more like 200hz-20,000hz. There is no FM tuning display so you cannot tell what station you are tuned to.The fm, usb and sd slots work fine. The earphone jack works and the remote control and input jack works. I gave it four stars because it's worth $60 but it's a little table radio - not a boombox. It's missing the "boom."

Super compact, nice sound, was dissapointed to find that there was no plug included, so have to charge the battery, which only has a 5 hour life, off of the computer. We did get an appropriate charger and just use it plugged in only now...
