Not as Great as it Sounds.
The description of this product on the listing was WAYYYYYY OFF. I have attached pictures to show the actual dimensions. If you have indoor plants and plan to keep an eye on them, I am not fully convinced that these pots will be worth their money. Maybe the outdoor use would be more valuable?I also don't understand why they list the actual gallon size but claim that it is the equivalent of the next size up in regular pots. The root dimensions are what they are. And if you know that you should not drown your plants in soil I would rather not be confused with conversions. This might make more sense if you are planning on using these pots in a hydroponic system, where no soil is needed. As to my intended use, I have been wanting to bring the outdoors inside my house for a long time. I have read a lot about air pruning and was convinced that this is the healthiest way to grow indoor plants and limit their height and overall size without damaging the plant. Also, since new root growth would be encouraged through the air pruning process, the plant would grow faster, bushier and healthier. After two months of use and having several different plants in various states of growth in these pots what I can say is that the best part of these pots is you can take the plants out without doing any root damage. Because the pot "wall" wraps around and is held together by screws when you take the plant out you simply "unwrap" the wall ... and voila the roots and soil are all intact. Also, the pots are EXTREMELY LIGHT. So even with wet soil, it takes nothing to pick them up and carry them around. Which is great for indoor use, but means that it will tip over easily if in a windy situation. Especially with the height/width ratio. As to getting more air to the roots while the plant is in the pot, I have not seen that to be true. And being indoors there is not much wind to blow around the holes. Also, not sure if it is because I cover all my pots with peat moss (as you can see) or because of keeping them indoors around 75F, I have also not experienced the soil drying out any faster than in other pots.As to soil escaping the pot while watering, I have a watering can with a "shower-head/rain-head" (I like how it imitates rain better) and have never had an issue with soil getting pushed out. Excess water simply drains away the way it does with other pots. Although it takes a very long time to fully stop draining. If you have these pots outdoors, some sort of drip system would do the same job I think.Speaking of watering, since this pot drains so well, finding a "planter" to accommodate as an outer catch-all is nearly impossible. Most planters have a smaller diameter on the bottom than the top, and these pots are not only the same size from top to bottom, there is a good 2" that has to be added because of the nodules on each side. So you have this huge planter for this little pot which looks ridiculous. The same can be said of finding a saucer to fit on the bottom. Air-Pot has no matching saucers and trying to find one that is wide enough and appealing is challenging once it comes to these larger sizes. You can either start watering in the sink with the rain spout can and do a multi-step process to move them back to their location, or you can simply water less but more frequently. As to getting to the encouraging growth and root size part, I have yet to see this to be true. Maybe I need to wait a few more months, but I can say that my Italian Plum Tree when I had it in a regular self-watering pot (red color not sure if the color matters but you never know) it grew like a dynamo. Once I planted it in the Air-Pot growth has halted. Now, this might be because, in the process of moving it from one pot to the other, there were some new roots that got broken/hurt, so I won't be too judgemental there. But it also goes to show that the "conversion" is incorrect since their "equivalent size" was too small to fit the roots. But also makes a case for that when you do take their pot apart, transplanting is easier.I have also planted a dormant Stanley Plum tree in the same pot at the same time as my Italian Plum tree and as you can tell it has yet to have any root growth or green anything. This might be due to dormancy and not having come out of it yet, but these are the facts so far.I did also plant a Magnolia tree in one of these pots (slightly smaller), and it is finally growing. Not as fast as the Italian Plum Tree was in the red self-watering pot, but making progress nonetheless. So, in short, I don't think these pots are as amazing as described when it comes to stimulating growth and it is definitely challenging to establish how to catch the water drainage. But it is easy to put together and take apart and convenient to move around. These pots are probably great outside (if not too hot) and even in hydroponic environments (although that would be a huge hydroponic setup). So if you are more concerned with transplanting, then this is probably the pot for you. If you are planning on leaving your plant in the same pot for years to come, there might be others that are less expensive and more suited for your needs.

Almost 5 stars
Would have been 5 ⭐'s, but I was missing 2 of the plastic screws that I thought it came with 🤷🏾

Go with the Generic Ones.
Item came without the bases, just the outer walls and the plastic fasteners. I returned them and purchased another set.I would like to mention that i have generic versions of these too.Now to the product itself. The material was decent but could have been thicker. It seems when they make these they have solid cones. Then they just cut off the end. This makes the air port hole large and only about half an inch deep. They are also harder to secure closed with the wing nuts they supply. The generic set I purchased are better designed and made with a much thicker material. The cones also stick out further and look to be made from a mold. This allows better air pruning of the root.Go with the Generic ones, you will be happier.

Had to give 4 star instead of full 5 because of MISSING BLUE SCREWS
Ordered two of these, got them, only came with TWO blue screws, should have been 4.I ordered a second pack of 2, and the 2nd pack came with 4 screws as it should.I ended up using white plastic drywall anchor screws (the big kind) which worked fine, but looks ganky. Thus the 4 star rating instead of full awesome 5 star. The product itself (the pots) are great.

Excellent construction. Watch the Youtube video for instructions on how to assemble, very easy. I deviated from the video and put the circular bottom piece as low as it would go to maximize volume vs the instructions to put it 3 rows up from the bottom. I have 16" overflow dishes under the pots (could probably get by with 12") and don't over water and keep the overflow dishes dry. So far the plants are loving these air-pots and plan to switch to these pots only for the next growing cycle. Update: Completed first grow and these air-pots worked much better than the cloth pots. No root binding at all and was easy to dump the old roots without having to take the pot apart. Also, no mold or mildew that usually occurs on the outside of the cloth pots. Easier to clean too just hose it off. Very happy and recommend to others.

An idea whose time has come!!!
I am glad I run into these pots and bought it immediately! This particular brand, which I think is the original concept, is thick, sturdy and a really cool idea for my plant collections. I will be trying it for several Japanese maple bonsais.Importantly, the package was missing some of those blue screws to put and hold together the pots, and the seller sent the pieces I needed fast. Also an easy assembly.

Quality product, but I’ve developed different preferences
This product does exactly what it says and delivers on its promises. When I got these pots I was excited and couldn’t wait to use them, unfortunately I really didn’t like them in reality. When I deliver water/food to my plants I don’t want to lose it through the first 5-10 rows of holes. Also, while dealing with pests, the many openings give a huge advantage to the pests and makes my life more difficult. On the other hand once I started using fabric pots I began getting the advantages of air-pruning without the lose of nutrients and ease of pest infestations.I believe these air pots have advantages in certain areas, specifically growing transplantable large trees outdoors, but may not be he best for vegetable/herb gardens.Visit your local (not a big box) gardening store and speak to them about different containers. Local growers know their stuff and will turn you onto the best container for your needs.
