Very solid little alarm clock. Sturdy, reliable.
Well to start off, before i had this one I had a chinese bulova clock. IT SUCKED. DONT BUY THAT ONE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GET THIS ONE. There are a few reasons why. To start off, this clock is made in serbia, the particular factory in serbia, seems to produce a much higher of quality product than the chinese bulova clock factory. Only downside is the timing will take a minute , you could probably make it perfect but adjusting it takes a few days, to know wether the clock is going to fast or too slow. The alarm is very loud, and so is the ticking. I like the ticking but if you need absolute silence to sleep, this clock isn’t for you. This is probably the most solid, sturdy and reliable alarm clock made by (I think) a German company today. but it is made in serbia, wich is better than the mechanical clocks from china dont buy from CHINA. I have heard people complain of the winding keys, they arent a problem for me, they might be a bit close together but not enough to be notable. The clock’s finish is great, im pretty sure the face is ceramic, and it’s quite a smart looking little clock. Built well, and it is very reliable and pretty much wakes me everyday. Buy this if you are looking for an affordable, accurate, sturdy, reliable, and pretty good looking alarm clock, that is loud. 5 stars for now, I will update with any issues

My appreciation for Sternreiter’s mechanical alarm clock
The clock reminds me of my youth that I used to have a similar double-bell mechanical alarm clock. The Sternreiter’s mechanical alarm clock made of good materials such as brass and steel is one of the best of classic double-bell mechanical alarm clock in the market today. I send my appreciation for that. I will write a review here:1. The main-spring full power reservation is around 40 hours. I wind the winding key around 9 rounds from empty to be fully wound. The instruction said the clock has safety catches preventing springs from breaking when a user wind them too much. It is usually not good to wind a mechanical clock until it is fully wound because it may spoil the elasticity of the spring. Despite the safety catches, I think we should not wind the winding key until it comes to stop to prolong the longevity of the springs.2. The full duration of alarm is around 13.5 second. I wind the alarm winding key around 5 rounds from empty to be fully wound. And I think we should not also wind the alarm key until it comes to stop.3. The tick-tok sound is pretty loud but not too loud. The sound likes light metal beating.4. [correction] I need 4 days to adjust the precision of the clock: ~24 hours after the clock is fully wound, I can adjust the precision to be around 15 second per day with respect to my iPhone. After that the precision come to be around 1 minute per day. A mechanical clock usually has less accuracy than a quartz clock. However, the clock can be adjusted a little bit faster or slower than the internet time.5. [correction] If we remove the clock key and alarm key, we can open the back lid in a similar way to open a biscuit tin box. It is clever designed and is German style mechanical alarm clock. It is convenient for clock maintenance.P.S. I have corrected some points because of my former misunderstanding.

Value
Arrived in a timely fashion and was well packed. Clock has a nice finish and the dial is crisp in detail. The glow in the dark markings are readable for about 4 hours after dark. If you like a ticking clock, this one is for you.. it is pretty loud. The down side of things is that the clock doesn't feel or look like it is worth the money. All metal parts are stamped and look quite cheap. Also, the clock was 20 minutes fast in the first 24 hours of use. I'd think a company that builds clocks would be able to get them within a few minutes a day before kicking them out the door. On the upside, I did adjust mine and it is quite accurate.

Don't Waste your money!!
I bought this clock because it was billed as being loud and reliable. I got it, set it and it promply stopped ticking. I tapped it and it started to work. This was a bad sign to start with. 10 minutes later it stopped again. On the positive side, it did give the correct time twice a day! It simply never worked on a consistent basis. I spent the extra money thinking I was getting quality. I got crap instead. Not reliable, a lot of plastic waste of money. Don't buy this if you are looking for a working clock. If you want a conversation piece for the mantle, it is just the thing.

Too loud
We wanted a wind up clock. No batteries. The clock is well made, but the ticking is so loud one can not go to sleep! I am very hard of hearing and even I can hear it. So far we don't use it for an alarm clock. One has to get use to it.

Wow, metal knobs for winding, great quality
DO NOT BUY THE CHEAP BULOVA CLOCK!Though it looks like a solid 1970s Kmart clock, it had plastic winding and setting knobs. I threw it in the trash because it is not worth my time to return a $20 item. This clock says MADE IN SERBIA. This is how to avoid bad reviews, make a quality product and charge what it is worth! This clock is heavy, likely an all metal clockwork and is built like a tank. The winding, time setting, and alarm setting knobs are all metal. The alarm bells and striker are all metal and are LOUD!Needed something easy to set for my 86-year old Dad since he naps a lot and I do not want him missing Doctor appointments .... Or Tee Time at the golf course! a He never could manage Smart Phone and lost interest in technology about 1981 with the VCR remote, so this heavy duty, well constructed, loud ringing alarm clock is perfect.....
