In the high-mountain valley known as Staheekum, the rivers run cold, the mornings are brisk and the winters come early. Yet its residents remain comfortably warm right down to their foot, due in no small part to Staheekum Brand Slippers. Inside, natural sheepskin caresses your feet; outside a velvety natural upper surrounds them. Yet despite this unparalleled level of comfort, Staheekums are as rugged as their namesake landscape thanks to handcrafted construction using the finest natural materials. Staheekum is synonymous with comfortable surroundings. Whether that's from the valley's reputation or slippers is often debated late into the night.

Great little slippers!
I was almost paralyzed when trying to decide which slippers to choose from Amazon because of the frightening reviews. I finally narrowed it down to the Staheekums and the Tamarac by Slippers International. The selling point for the Staheekums was that they are made in Washington state vs. China. Go USA! The slippers arrived sooner than expected and the fit was perfect. I wear a standard 9B and am usually able to successfully buy shoes online. I ordered my usual size and they fit the way a slipper should. They are amazingly warm and comfortable! Buy them! If you're smart you'll buy two pair and put one up for later.

Finally!
I have to say first that about 10 years ago I found a great brand at REI and bought that for everyone for Christmas. Those slippers were very obviously lambswool and high quality leather, and lasted a good 3-4 years. When REI stopped stocking them, I went looking for another pair, where else but on Amazon. And then other places. I think I bought and returned 6 pairs last year. The workmanship in all of them, including a very expensive big name made out west brand, was plain shoddy. Bad. Worth the return shipping cost. This year I only ordered these slippers because they were on sale so cheap at the holidays. BEST BUY EVER. Yes, they are made in China. Yes they were too big. Yes, I question whether it is really lambswool or just polyester fleece. Hence the 4 stars. BUT. Kotulas sent me out a new smaller pair immediately and free return shipping on too large pair. And these fit PERFECTLY. Somewhat snug to get on, but that makes them very warm and not floppy when walking around. As to the sole? Its a slipper, not a running shoe. Not supposed to be all that supportive. But they are WARM. And the best made pair I have purchased in the last two years. You have to expect that after time the rubber and the thread holding the upper to the rubber will disintegrate. I probably wear these more than any other shoe, and think of all the heat and moisture that they are exposed to. Don't waste your time on others. I will, of course, keep looking for a pair made in the US. When these wear out.

Perfect Choice
These are the most comfortable slippers I have ever owned. The leather is soft, but thick. You can slide your feet in without the back collapsing...great for those bad-back days. Super soft fleece lining with lots of padding on the sole. They are warm, but breathable, so feet stay cozy without sweating. Twice this week I have started to walk out the door then realized I was still wearing these slippers. You'll never want to take them off!I'm adding to this review after owning these for 8 months. The slippers still look like new and are as comfortable as ever. The padding is still cushy and they feel great to wear around the house. I hope they still have them when I am ready for a new pair but that doesn't look like it will be anytime soon!

If you have sensitive skin...
Admittedly, my wife has princess skin. If you don't, these may be fine for you. When my wife rubbed it on my face, I could see what she means though, the white wooly inside feels scratchy rather than soft. For my wife's extremely sensitive skin, it is abrasive rather than soft. My ogre-man feet would probably never notice :-)Next, the seams that you can see in the pictures are sewn on the inside, such that they rub against my wife's toes and the tops of her feet uncomfortably. These seem to be very well made, they just unfortunately do not work with princess skin. If we were in a brick-and-mortar store, we would have put these back on the shelf without a second thought and moved along. Thankfully, the return procedure with Amazon is not going to be a hassle.

Toasty warm slippers!
I have poor circulation in my feet and hands due to a medical disorder. I wear socks year round and 2 pairs in the winter. I absolutely love these slippers and they are very warm. I especially love the rubberized soles so that I can venture outside in the frost to feed my doggies and then come inside and not have damp slippers that make my feet cold. I highly recommend these slippers for anyone. Mine ran true to size and I will definitely order another pair when these need replacing.

Perfect Fit
These are well made slippers. I bought these three years ago and they still have life left in them! I wear a size 7 shoe and ordered the slipper in a size 7 and they fit like a glove. Thanks to the rubber sole, I have even run quick errands in them. The sole has really held up remarkable well with all the wear and tear I've put on these slippers. I did add an inner sole not that long ago to breath new life into them. All the stitching is still intact and while the suede fabric has darkened, it shows no other signs of wear.I'm very happy with my purchase and wouldn't hesitate to buy these slippers again! Debi B.

Cozy slippers
These slippers are perfect for me. Totally lined with fuzzy sheepskin, they are very warm. The soles are sturdy enough for me to run out in the snow/rain to grab the morning paper from the driveway while keeping my feet dry. I ordered my usual shoe size and they fit perfectly. I thought they were a little pricy but they are so well made I expect them to last 2 or 3 years.

I have about worn these out.
I just love these little boots. I have already worn them SO much, I now have shiny spots in the bottom of the inside. They are fabulous to wear with jeans, sweats, what ever you want to use them for. I have been out in the yard in them, on rainy days and no leaks.Warmth, you will take them off during times of watching television, as they are very warming in winter.I could not be happier with a pair of house boots! Order a size or half smaller though. Once you wear them and stretch them, they will get floppy without socks. So plan ahead for longer wear and order a half or full size smaller than what you normally wear. You'll love them!!
