Oooooh this one was cute! A cozy holiday read.
Short summary: Ellie agrees to marry her wealthy landlord Andrew so he can get his grandfather's inheritance. What's in it for her, other than the fact the man's FINE 🤭? She's broke, working as a barista instead of doing what she dreamed of and he promises her $200k for the deal. She agrees because she's got nothing else to lose and really needs the money. When she goes to spend Christmas at his family's cabin, she meets his sister Jack: aka the woman she spent one day with, Last Christmas, fell madly in love with and never heard from her again after she left. The chemistry is definitely still there... How is this going to unfold👀? This was such a fun story. We have fake dating x marriage of convenience x forbidden love. Dylan, Jack's best friend, is also present at the cabin. He's always been there with the family and what is going on between him and Andrew? The grandma's were definitely the stars of the show. Meemaw and Lovey were absolutely adorable. Ellie's insecurities towards the end were starting to annoy me just a little haha, but other than that she was so cute and deserves the world. And like.. I knoooow that most romances have misunderstandings, but... JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER and then there wouldn't be an issue?? That's why I HATE the misunderstanding trope lol. Overall, it was a really cute inclusive holiday romance and I definitely recommend. 🥰🎄🎁

Spicy Christmas Read!
The story follows Ellie who has Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), her life has pretty much fallen apart after she falls in Love over the course of a day, Christmas Eve. She is devastated when it is indicated that the day didn’t mean anything to Jack.Flashforward just under a year, after being stuck for cash, she enters a marriage of convenience only to discover that her fiancée’s sister is the women she fell in love with last Christmas!Oh, there are so many remarkable characters present within this book. I absolutely adored the representation. Not only does the story include a diverse range of characters but includes a meaningful message on failure. I was instantly hooked from the first page, and this continued throughout the entire book. I couldn’t wait to discover what had happened between Ellie and Jack on the snowy Christmas Eve. I loved the structure specifically the flashbacks to last Christmas as I was eager for more of Ellie and Jack throughout. Ellie is well written, and the character development is impressive throughout. This is my first read from this author and it will definitely not be my last. I am looking forward to reading The Charm Offensive next.Read if you enjoy:A second chance romanceForced proximityLGBTQ+ RepresentationChristmas Romance

Loveee this one! A touching LGBTQ+ romance
Ellie’s life is complicated. She lost her dream job, her mother is the worst and is about to lose her apartment. So when the landlord of her workplace proposes a crazy plan she decides to go with it. A marriage of convenience. Problem is that Ellie’s still hung up on the woman she met last Christmas. And you can probably tell where this is going, it’s messy and I’m here for it.This is the best Christmas romance i read in 2022, which is high praise. It’s a queer contemporary romance then with a lot of representation. Which is amazing, obviously. And even though it’s marketed as a holiday romance it’s not that christmassy. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, 5 stars remember.I really think a lot of people will be able to relate to the characters experiences. No matter if it’s sexuality, family relations or mental health. I highly recommend it to all the romance readers.

Terrible
Probably one of the worst books I've ever tried to read.

A feel good, feel sad, feel good story!
I love this new young author and the voice she brings to this genre. The complexity of her stories beyond the simplicity of "girl meets girl, girl loses girl, girl gets girl" cliche is unmatched. Fresh, funny, bittersweet and heartfelt is how I would describe the story, characters, and Portland as the backdrop for this holiday treat. A page-turner for sure, but tender and sweet at the same time. We've all been Ellie and we've all known Jack - and we are all cheering for them from the start of this journey. More please Alison Cochrun! You are a great new talent with a gifted voice in the queer romance space.

Love this story! Very well written. The supporting cast is just as intriguing as the main characters. I had a lot of fun!

Amazing book!
This book was amazing. I didn’t expect it to be so good because I don’t really love Christmas but the characters are so well written, I related a lot to Elle, mentally I kind of am Elle and I didn’t expect to feel so seen in this book. This really is the sapphic holiday romance movie we deserved but never got. Except it a book and not a movie but if you to were thinking of re watching happiest season to get the gay Christmas vibes even tho you hated how it ended you should read this instead because this book is truly amazing.

Fantastic
Unlike most fake relationship books, this one was less about the comedy and more about the emotional roller coaster of the characters. Beautifully written.

A diverse & lovable Christmas romance!
The book was in good condition when i received it! Read for my review:December 29, 2022Oh my gosh these characters stole my heart. I completely fell in love with Jack and am convinced in an alternate universe I could be Ellie.First of all, the DIVERSITY👏🏻From race, to gender, to sexuality, and mental health we have it all. It all felt so well done and I truly loved what it added to the book. It was refreshing to have so much representation in a book and I hope to read more books like this.I loved how the book was set up from last Christmas, to the snow day webcomic, to present day. The story was wonderfully told over the dual time lines.I adored the main characters and side characters so much. Ellie finding a family within Jack & Andrews family was so sweet. I love the friendship between Ellie & Andrew along with the romantic relationship with Ellie & Jack. We even had a little bit of added drama with Dylan themself. They were hilarious and made me glad that Andrew might find someone for them as well!Such a sweet Christmas story while also focusing on some more serious topics. Ellie and Jacks personal growth was a journey and I’m so glad they made it there. I definitely recommend reading this and can’t wait to read another of Alison Cochran books!
