It’s a filter, not a purifier, there is a difference.
It’s a filter not a purifier, there is a difference, big one. I see a lot of reviewers mentioning no big difference in ppm measured between their tap water and this filtered water. You are not going to see a big difference, if any at all, at least in measured ppm. When you turn on your faucet, water first passes through a non-woven screen around the filter. This screen traps sediment like sand and dirt. Next, the water flows through a compressed block of carbon and zeolite. Each little carbon granule has millions of little pores on the surface. These pores act like a sponge, and are great for removing chemicals like chlorine. The slower that water flows through the carbon, the more contact time carbon has with water, and the more chemicals can be removed. They’re great at taking out chlorine, and they aerate the water which makes it taste better. The main downside with these filters is the limited improvement that they actually make to water quality. So it is filtering your tap water even though you are not seeing a huge difference in the measured ppm. Most tap water in U.S. cities should be around 180-250ppm. My tap at my apartment in center city Philadelphia is measuring at 236ppm and with this filter system it is measuring at 224ppm, but there is a huge difference in the way the water tastes, it’s so much better. This filter system does a pretty good job improving my tap water within the technology of the system capabilities. If you want drinking water measured at ~8ppm (or input whatever low number you want here) you need a purifing system. You could also buy purified bottled water. Generic purified bottled water will actually measure lower in ppm than generic spring water and is usually a few pennies cheaper to boot.

My wife would repeatedly complain about the tap water smell ...
My wife would repeatedly complain about the tap water smell, clarity and the fact it sent her to the bathroom, if you know what I mean. I always blew her off because I normally drank bottled water. Then one day it snowed and I couldn't get to the store. I filled a glass with tap water and realized what she had been going through. I immediately started shopping for a filter and chose this DuPont 4-stage faucet mount filter, most others were only 3-stage. We've used this for 3 years now. It comes out cloudy for a few seconds but then becomes crystal clear. I called DuPont customer care and they informed me that the cloudiness is simply oxygen in the water, perfectly safe to drink. No more weird smell and no running to the bathroom. A night & day difference. I think everybody should get one for their kitchen faucet.

Very Good, But One Problem
This Dupont water filter system is excellent. It is hard to get a better filtration system especially for the low cost. The only problem is not the filter but the container that attaches to the faucet. I have had them fail. The valve to turn on the filter will leak water. The chrome plating will delaminate. The battery will fail in the unit and not show the gallons of water used. Probably made in China, cheap, cheap, cheap quality. However, Dupont has made good on replacing the units, but only during the short warranty period of one year. I have not had one last two years! But the water filtering is great. Dupont really needs to increase quality on the faucet mount system as it ruins the total product. JRPub.com

Great little filter!
We use this on the sink in the kitchen. We had a small problem with the taste of our water before we got this filter. Now, the water tastes great. It is slower coming out of the faucet when using the filter but it can easily be turned off if you need to fill a large pot or something.
