CAMINO WINDS

Intriguing Plot
An intriguing murder mystery set in the Camino Islands penned by the master of legal thrillers, John Grisham although, this is nowhere close to the author's fortes. Bruce Cable, of the infamous Bay Stores, is celebrating the success of Mercer Mann's new novel with the literary mafia of Camino Islands, along with the newly joined lawyer turned writer, Nelson Kerr, and a summer intern working at Bay Store, Nick Stutton. Within hours, a hurricane nicknamed Leo is about to strike the Islands, and the entire community is asked to evacuate. Bruce and a few friends decide to stay back and in the aftermath of the storm, he learns that Nelson Kerr is among one of the casualties of the hurricane. Nick, who is an intense reader of thriller novels instantly dismisses it as hurricane casualty and throws enough light to suspect it as a murder. With not much assistance from the local police, Bruce and his pals start their bit of investigation and are assisted by a security firm, better known to Bruce from the days of the stolen manuscripts. They are thunderstruck when truth slowly dawns on them, finding themselves in the midst of Nelson's new finished yet unpublished script closely related to an enormous Insurance fraud. Bruce is determined to wade into the depths of this nefarious web only to enable his friend to get the justice he deserves. The plot is fast-paced and delighting with the characters well adapted to their roles. Not to mention the versatile composition from an author known for legal thrillers, to a heist and this one a murder mystery. An enjoyable read for thriller lovers.

Good follow-up to Camino Island.
The book is a decent thriller but predictable. But it also uses the predictability as its strength and ushers on through to the end. Some might like it, some might not. I wasn't a big fan but I don't think the story took too much of a hit. It's also a great book if you're starting out into reading. John Grisham's prose is very easy to read and if you're like me who staggers a start to a book, you'll be sailing through by the time you reach the half-way point. If you're a Grisham fan, it's a good read. Unlike the other books (and like the previous one, Camino Island), this one doesn't delve into law, which is nice to see.

Unlike the earlier gripping Grishams
The book was slow and the characters didn't feel realistic. The novel was OK but certainly can't keep eyes glued to the book.Grisham is great in Court Room novels. Both the Caminos, which are outside of Court Rooms, are two stars lower.

Good premise but a slow moving plot
I am a big fan of John Grisham, however this story was a bit dull and slow paced for me.There wasn't much depth to the plot. Looking forward to the other books by John Grisham

Interesting story plot . Great start but gets too fast in the end
The plot starts very well with regular pace and Grisham holds you line by line. And after a while, precisely after Bruce hiring an agency it gets very fast and bit coincidental.Interesting read still. Rating 4. Readers of Camino Island will certainly like this adventure too.

A great read!
Of course, this book #2 (Camino Winds) can be read as a stand alone, but, in my opinion, to know the depth of the main characters, one should read book #1 (Camino Island). No doubt that book #1 was a good read; but, this book #2 is: more intriguing, captivating, with good details and amazing storytelling.Camino Winds is wonderfully written.

Amateurish At Best
Can't believe this is Grisham. Half baked characters with football field sized holes in the buildup and story. Definitely skip this one.

Great read !
Big fan of John Grisham, I greatly enjoyed his latest book following up his previous tale on Camino Island/Florida. Especially during these difficult times, this entertaining and well-written book is pure pleasure. Highly recommended.

Camino Island series
