Fantastic, doable step programs! Great directions given, easy to follow w/ just enough complexity to keep it fresh and flowing!
Loved them! All 3 were really great workouts. Highly recommend!To the 'addicted to step aerobics' as well as the 'new to step aerobics', don’t let the dated appearance of the programs scare you away!!! I finally, tried these. I too was also frightened of Cathe’s notoriously complex choreography. Are the set and clothing dated, you betcha. However, peeling back that thin layer - I really, truly, and completely enjoyed these programs.Cueing: Cathe does such a wonderful job at cueing the moves and she goes over them with the right amount of repeats to make sure you have them before moving on. Her directions combined with the sequencing of the moves in all of these programs are excellent. Even if I got off foot, they are designed to let you get back in quickly. She uses great transition moves to permit a fast catch up.Sequencing/choreography: As noted before, the moves flow well together in all of the programs. Cathe teaches the combos in layers, building slowly. I didn’t find the moves too difficult. There are good transitions between combos and moves. She throws in basic steps or repeated sequences so that if you get off foot you can get back in easily. I found these programs to be a pretty even intermediate level of complexity. Step Heat was the easiest and Step Max was probably the most complex (word used lightly).Aerobic: They are high calorie burners! All three of them. But Step Jam was much higher in heart rate consistently than the other two. I think I clocked the most steps on my Fitbit as well with this one. But you can control this by how high of an impact you make the moves or how low/high you make your step. But regardless, I’m sweaty and beet red at the end of all of them.Set/outfits: ok. I’ll admit. Garish. Absolutely. But who cares. The music was complimentary and the combos were a heart pulsing fun time!Summary: I will use these again and again. They are doable fun! So glad I looked past the late 90's feel and got them DVD. Well worth it!

Great Workouts! While challenging
Great Workouts! While challenging, not as much as her later stuff. The workout wear is hideous and laughable. Cathe is sweet and young and when she says "looks hot", it's funny. Would recommend for an experienced stepper.

Step tape
This was a lot harder tape than I thought. For a younger person is probably better. I’m 70 and had a hard time keeping up also there wasn’t a toned down example to follow.

If you enjoy Step, this is great
25 long years ago, I was in top shape and Cathe Friedrich videos were my go to for home excercise.Now I'm creeping up past middle age (yikes) and really want to get in better shape. I'm in moderate to low physical condition as far as the intensity of aerobic excercise I can handle now at age 58.Tried walking...it's great until the summer heat kicks in.So I reluctantly decided to give step another try after all these years. The only reason it was reluctantly is I seriously doubted my twice as older body could handle Cathe Frederich.So far ( a month later) it's going better than I expected but I am having to slowly work my way up.The first couple of times I could only do 15 minutes and no risers. Now I'm up to 30 minutes but still no risers.Cathe Frederich step is definitely not for beginners...if I hadn't been a step pro way back when I wouldn't have even attempted this. But the choreography comes back, like riding a bikeThe fitness level is still pretty far out of my range but I'm working my way up.I may never get back to using both risers but that's ok. I'm not trying to be 30 years old again. I just happen to love Step...it's fun and it's a GREAT workout.

Very good workout
This is a really good workout! I also like that it isn’t annoying. So often the person conducting the workout is so annoying, you just don’t want to do it. But this one is good. Cathe is good at explaining the moves and giving cues, and she’s never overly, annoyingly bubbly. I am having to work my way up to doing the entire first workout. It’s really tough, and some of the moves take some practice. That just means I’ll get a lot more use out of it.

Cathe is awesome.
If you are like me looking for high intensity step training without complex choreography then this is the DVD for you. You get three workouts plus an abdominal workout. You can also premix the workouts to add variety to the routine. The routines are basic and easy to follow. I recommend you first master the choreography by practicing the moves, then go for it. Step aerobics is a bundle of fun and it adds life to your fitness routine. I recently moved into a traffic congested neighborhood so running is not an option for me at this time. So I decided to resume step training and incorporated into my fitness schedule. What better way than to train with these awesome workouts with Cathe ad your trainer.
