So Engaging!
I felt so conflicted while reading this book. It was frustrating, encouraging, sad, and uplifting all rolled into one. It isn’t too often that an addict will so easily share their struggle especially when it can be quite embarrassing.Michael K. Williams not only played a pivotal role (Omar) in my most favorite series, he was memorable as every character he shared with us. Scenes From My Life reminds us of one very harsh reality: No amount professional success, money or even fame can save a person from the disease of addiction if we do not face and address childhood trauma. This was an extremely engaging read and I truly hope Mr. Williams has found peace in death that he fought so hard to find while living.

Very Caring Individual
This was an extremely moving and candid memoir. Having been a fan of Michael K. Williams, I looked forward to reading this book. It’s well-written and gives deep insights into the difficulties and complexities of dealing with drug addiction. Hopefully knowing his story will help others. This book serves to inform, inspire, and encourage many to care and see people’s humanity. I enjoyed learning about all he did to help young people in his community.

Loved it.
Got to know him a little more about him. His description about life in NYC made me feel like we were friends, close in age, the 80s and 90s came to life again. Gone too soon but left so much behind

A gut punching memoir of pain, love, redemption and sadness
This is the autobiography of actor Michael K. Williams and co- writer, Jon Sternfeld.Williams is best known for playing one of the most brilliant characters ever written for television, Omar Little from the groundbreakingHBO series, "The Wire". He was a superb talent and he takes us on a journey of his life from the projects in Brooklyn, to stardom, all the time fighting his demons of addiction to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Bullied as a child, berated by a mother and heroin " tough love" standards, Williams learned what skills he had and channeled it into the performing arts. This is not an easy read. He crashes and burns at the height of his stardom, brushes himself off and tries and tries again. He falls many times. He commits to helping other vulnerable young Black men, just like him, victims of racism, caste and the systematic failure of this country to acknowledge its role in keeping this awful system alive.Michael paid his dues, and paid forward the hard work, to others in his community so they could learn from him. He also learned from those he helped. Committed, vulnerable, all too human in fighting his demons, Michael left us September 6, 2021. This work is his legacy. It is a story to be shared with anyone who has felt the sting of hatred, bullying, told you're never good enough that yes, you can win and as Maya Angelo so beautifully wrote: "And yet I rise."We miss you, Mike and thank you for the courage it took to open up your heart and arms for others. You are truly redeemed.

Beautiful soul!!!.
The most damage humans are some of the most beautiful soul. The honesty and purity of MKW story is a breath of fresh air. To hear him talk about his struggles, insecurities, fears and failures is not something you often see in our community(African American community) we are often told to hide our weaknesses which usually leads to not dealing with our demons. I can relate to him on so many levels. MKW was a beautiful soul with deep love for people at times more than he loved himself. He was just scratching the surface on the impact he was about to make in young people lives. Great book. Rest in paradise O.
