Is the varifocal adjustment manual or motorized?

Both the focus and focal length are manual adjustments. Each has a small finger screw you can loosen to adjust the lense and tighten once set.

What size filter does this lens use? it's threaded so it looks like it could take one. i purchased a 25mm ir filter and it was close but didn't fit

Will this need a program to run, or preview video

It uses Twain. Any standard program that uses a webcam can be used. I use VLC player.
