HALO 13'' Premium Splatter Screen for Frying Pan w/Super-Fine Mesh, Folding & Locking Handle - Brushed Stainless Steel Splatter Guard

The concept of a "splatter screen" has been around for years, and not normally an item I would give much thought to. This screen certainly does the job (and better than I remember from the originals) essential blocking most splatters. It is quite sturdy, and the folding handle works nicely and stays cool during use. The product does have one major flaw, however. Even though it is advertised as 13", this does not mean it will work well for a 13" pan (or even a 12" pan).On an 12 3/8" pan (the manufacturer calls it 12" even), the slightest movement allows the screen to slip to one side, and fall partially into the pan (see the attached photograph). Our Circulon pan does have, admittedly, a smooth curved rim, making it easier for the cover to slip. We assumed, however, that a 13 inch screen would work fine for a 12" pan.This problem is not much of an issue for smaller pans, since it is not likely that the screen will move far enough to either side to slip into the pan, and we have found it to work well with a 10" pan.Since I cook mostly with a 12" pan, however, I am inclined to give this product a 3 star review (it is possible to get around the issue by using the screen upside down, and this does work, even though it is not intended to be used that way).I must say that the seller/manufacturer of this product has been extremely responsive, happy to receive my comments and suggestions, and very concerned with my satisfaction level. Based on the quality of my interaction with them (and the confidence that that inspires), more so than the product itself, I am bumping the rating to 4 stars!

I bought this to replace an old flimsy splatter shield that was worn out. This splatter shield is a huge improvement over any of the others that I have seen. It is sturdy and had metal reinforcing rods that also allow you to place it on a counter without creating a mess from any splattered oil. The handle folds into the unit which makes it very convenient for cleaning it in the dishwasher and for storage in the cabinet. It fits a 12 inch Lodge Cast Iron pan perfectly and also fit our 12 inch Copper Chef Wok perfectly. Because of the reinforcing bars, you can use it on smaller skillet's like a 10 inch. I can imagine this product easily lasting us 15-20 years based on the longevity of the flimsy one that we wore out. I am very pleased with this purchase. Received this item today and immediately put it to work. Seems to work exactly as it's supposed to. Steam comes out, only a tiny amount of grease escapes. So for that I'm pretty happy.The handle and frame both appear well-built. The handle particularly seems to be made of a decent guage stainless steel. Only quality complaint comes from the very thin screen itself. It feels quite fragile. I've never had a splatter screen before, but now I regret not buying one sooner! This has become a cooking staple for me. It works great on all different sized pots and pans, and I am absolutely thrilled that it works on my large cast iron (which I suppose is a little over 12 inches). This splatter screen is the only thing I own that fits correctly on it, and I've got a white oven so it's critical in saving me major clean up. I was worried since the handle is also metal that it would get hot when I'm cooking, but even when I leave it on for a long time it stays cool enough to pick up. Very satisfied!

This is a great splatter guard. It has a nice tight mesh to not let through grease splatters, yet a lot of steam can still escape. I have used this quite a bit since I received it. I can easily clean it by hand or throw it in the dishwasher. I just fold up the handle and in it goes.

This screen really does stop splattering all over you and your stove because the gauge is very fine. The sturdy, solid handle does move as seen in the photos but if you want it folded completely over itself, to the screen, while cooking, you had better set it up that way before you start to cook. It is easy to get it into upright position, but past that, to flat, is difficult especially when it's hot and in use.

Great product. Nice looking, light weight and absolutely covers and prevents splatter from the pan. I like the foldable handle because its easier to store. I put in the dishwasher for cleaning and washes very well. I gave it four stars because it does retain some burn marks on it that havent washed out in the dishwasher although I haven't tried a brillo pad yet. But i dont mind the marks.

I had given up on splatter screens a while back because they were cheaply made and never seemed to work, only creating more of a mess to clean up. However, this one feels a lot different. It feels sturdy with no signs of the mesh coming out of the frame, and the mesh feels much tougher than others I have tried. Though I haven’t run it through the dishwasher yet to test it, I feel confident it will hold up! I really like the folding handle that doesn’t get in the way of things in storage.
