G4 led bulbs
I needed these for a cooker hood after I run out of patience with halogen bulbs blowing every few weeks. Initially I had bought some 2w which should have been the appropriate replacement lighting (20w equivalent) but you could not see if they were even on sometimes. These are 3w and are perfect for the job, cold white and bright enough to illuminate the hob, they do not run too hot and are small enough to fit the hood recess (although larger than the original bulbs). I cannot vouch for longevity as they are still in their early days but hopefully they should last and plenty of spares as well!

slightly larger than 'normal'
the only thing that you may have to take into account with these bulbs, is that they are slightly larger than some other bulbs.however, it shouldn't cause to many issues for most.these a 3W bulbs, which makes them equivalent roughly to a 20W standard bulb. they are flicker free, thus far this holds true.at £11.99 (atow), this makes each bulb roughly £1.20. giving good value for money.so far these have held true to the blurb at the side. good value replacement bulbs.

Bright (cool light) and efficient
The media could not be loaded. Great! Replaced a halogen bulb in a reading lamp (see video) and power draw went down from 14W to 4W – much more efficient. They are a cool white (despite the listing stating warm white) and at around £10 for 10, you won’t have to wait long before the efficiency starts paying for itself – especially at current electricity prices! Obviously, the big unknown factor is durability, but if this bulb gives out before I expect it to, I’ll be back on here updating the review.

NOT 3W but at most only 1.8W
I was keen on replacing 5 x 20W 12V G4 halogen bulbs with LEDs that were brighter. I reckoned that these might be 6500K daylight white bulbs rather than 'warm white', both descriptions being in the title and in the technical details but '6500K, daylight white' in the product description section.Although I strongly dislike 'daylight white' bulbs in most situations, they're ok for work lights and these were destined to 2 desk lights, a spotlight in a utility room and 2 work lights on a garage bench.I was suspicious that these might not be 3W or even more dubiously '35W halogen equivalent' as I've never seen any 3W G4 pin bulbs for sale from reputable lightbulb suppliers and the inconsistent description ought to have been a further warning. They came in a re-closable plastic holder in a cardboard box showing 3 colour temperatures on the front and 3 colour descriptions on the back. Photos attached. Are easy to fit. My immediate thought on changing the bulb in my desk light was that it was duller than the halogen one and it was not just the perception of the 6500K light, which often seems less illuminating. Tried 2 others and they were the same. No way were they 350 lumens!Thought I'd test them to see how many Watts of current they drew:With a 12.26V DC supply they drew on average 0.1465A (a range of 0.140A to 0.149A with 6 of the 10 at 0.146-0.147A) which means these bulbs are 1.79W (at most 17W halogen equivalent)With a 13.75V AC supply they drew on average 0.125A, meaning 1.72W (at most 16.3W halogen)I also checked a halogen 20W bulb:With a 12.26V DC supply it drew 1.604A, meaning 19.66WWith a 13.75V AC supply it drew 1.568A, meaning 21.56WSo, the figures confirm my eyes. These bulbs are not 3W. Even quality (e.g. Philips) 2W LED capsules are generally regarded as being equivalent to 18W or 19W halogens except one G9 capsule, priced at £8 each, is '25W halogen equivalent'. Most 3W G9 bulbs are '25W halogen equivalent' so for a 3W LED to claim equivalence to 35W is somewhat fanciful.Although disappointed, I'll keep them. Plan to swap out the relatively unused old halogen bulbs in the other 4 positions and keep them for my main desk lamp.IF these bulbs were honestly described, then in view of the price and despite their longevity being unknown, I'd give them 4 or maybe 5 stars but as this, in my opinion, is possibly an attempt to deceive it should be 2 stars but I’ll compromise on 3.

Sealed units - the best design?
These look well made, I have previously used 'Crompton' branded ones which seem similar, time will tell if the gel method is superior for not attracting dust and/or dissipating heat. Ultimately all products of this type are made in China, it just depends on the quality of the components and manufacture. I have already upgraded a bathroom fitting of ours which uses these lamps in tiny shades over a mirror, and there is no flicker, and a good colour temperature as promised, which is usually more pronounced in a windowless bathroom. As ever with these reviews, only time will tell how good they really are. However, out of the packet I am pleased.

Nice bright, white light!
These led bulbs emit a very white light and have a much brighter light output than the yellowish halogen bulbs they replace.I have fitted them to my dining room light which takes 7 bulbs. They are a direct replacement for the halogen bulbs and fit perfectly. These led bulbs are much brighter and light the room up so much better than the standard halogen bulbs. The only downside of them, for me personally at least, is the fact that I have only fitted 6 led bulbs and had to leave 1 halogen bulb in the light fitting as when all 7 were fitted with these led bulbs the light would turn on for a fraction of a second and switch off again. I'm guessing this is due to the light fitting being pretty old and not designed for led bulbs and it must be something to do with the much lower power draw of these bulbs compared to the halogen bulbs. That isn't the bulbs fault though so I can't hold that against them!Overall I am very impressed with these led bulbs. They are much brighter and whiter than the halogen bulbs they replace and I would definitely recommend them if a brighter, whiter bulb is what you are looking for.
