Yeoman Gear - Extra Large Yoga Mat for Men

I had a standard yoga mat 24"X72" 4 mm thick. I am 5'8" 160 lbs and found I was hanging off the matt on many yoga moves and the 4mm was definitely not thick enough to protect my spine when on my back. The Yeoman Gear Extra large mat size works mostly well (36" wide vice 30" would be ideal), but the 8mm thickness which is about 1/3" and how the mat has a slightly grooved or corrugated surface if you look closely is not a consistent 8mm thick. I also found the mat to be very slick and a slight oily feel and my bare feet slip. I suspect there is something I can wipe the surface to make it tacky, but what is that. When it is time to replace this mat I will select another brand and look for 36"x78" and 10mm thick.

I had an old yoga mat that I used for years, but it was always about 6" too short for me (I'm 5'-10") I recently ordered this mat and I used it for the first time yesterday. This mat is both wider and taller, and while the extra width is nice, the length is golden. Now when I lay down I have extra room at my feet and head. Its also nice to get a little more personal space when the class is crowded. It's a great product and does exactly what I need it to do.

Although this mat is long and wide, any pressure on it flattens out the foam down to the hard surface under the mat. So the mat provides minimal cushioning. Okay if you are want only a clean exercise surface. If you are looking to cushion your hands and knees, look elsewhere.

Mat is falling apart, surface abraded after 2 months and now it's shedding foam bits to the point where its too embarrassing to use. I've been using this mat 3-4 times per week for the last 3 months. I'm 6'3 230, the size is perfect and the mat was very comfortable.

Much better comfort for me, although I could still use a bit more cushion (I weigh 215 lbs).Nice bigger size! Fits me well (I'm 6'-0" tall). Actually get both hands on the mat during pushups.

I bought this yoga mat for my guy as a Christmas present. He liked it because we like to go to yoga together. He's been using it too, although I didn't really ask him if he liked it much. Well, the other day we took my car to yoga instead of his and we had to use the yoga mats at the studio. Well, that's when my husband started talking about how much he prefers this yoga mat to others. The bigger size seems to make sense for him, but he was really squawking about was the thickness, I guess this mat is much more comfortable on his knees.
