A trip through our sporting past
I bought this book because I am the same age as BBC Sports Report and its a nostalgia fest for me. My earliest memories are of sitting with my grandad in front of a coal fire while he checked his pools coupon from the classified football results. There is much iconic about Sports Report apart from its longevity. It's the unforgettably jaunty theme tune, although I never knew its title until now, and the list of sports journalists and presenters who have become household names – Eamon Andrews, Raymond Glendenning and Des Lynam. Well written and a gift must for sporty family members of all ages.

Disappointing review
I was really looking forward to reading about the history of Sports Report a real programme I listen to on my drive home after a game, which is something I have done for a very long time, but I'm sorry to say I found the book tedious. Too many anecdotes were laboured, and I found that it was written, in many instances, in very boring prose.

Fabulous read
Fabulous read. Couldn't put it down. Brought to life many of the events I've listened to on the drive home from a match, plus brought some historic sport to life. Best read for a long time.

Brilliant read
Really well researched and packed full on interesting anecdotes. Probably Pat Murphy’s best ever book and a really good Christmas present for any sports fan.
