(Photo: top and bottom type lines are with this ribbon, two different typewriters)The spool shape works well with some of my portables, especially the Hermes Baby, but I find the ribbons to be TOO inky. The ink seems to sit on the ribbon rather than soak in, and because it's so surface level, I get a foggy impression of the ribbon itself around the typed letters. My typing looks like someone too the side of a lead pencil and tried to take a rubbing. I've used the ribbons on different machines with the same result. I'm going to try to wipe up some of the extra ink on the all black ribbon to see if it improves, but the black/red will be a little tricky. Maybe I'll unspool it and try to let it dry out some in a box. Will do in a pinch, good to have the different spool shapes, but definitely not my favorite out of the packaging.

I did not open the product. The problem was that the website represented it to fit 1 5/8" size.

Does NOT fit for 1925 -1930's Royal 10. Otherwise, the ribbon looks fine....

Not the pictured spool - I swapped the ribbon onto original metal spools, in my typewriter. The ribbon is good, though......applies well to 50% cotton paper, and definitely got my fingers dirty! LolI only used the Red/Black so far, but I'm sure the solid black will be okay. I'm saving that one for another machine I have being delivered soon.

Seems to fit my son’s 1950ish typewriter. Same size as the old metal one that came with the unit.
