Quickstart QS-RUSSIAN Immersion Russian [windows 98/me/2000/xp]

I am fluent in 3 languages, and have learned the basics of 2 other languages for travel, and so have used all kinds of language instruction software, books and kits. This is the absolute worst language instruction I have ever tried to use.First of all, it does not actually do what it advertises to do, which is to "immerse" you in a language, so as to replicate how someone learns a language when actually in a foreign language environment. That would involve the learning of words and phrases in the context of conversation. Rather, the CDs simply toss russian words and phrases at you one by one in a rapidfire manner, exoecting you to possibly instantly memorize them. It is like a talking dictionary.But the largest drawback is that the words and phrases that are said are pronounced so fast in Russian that you often can't even understand what they said to try to repeat it or memorize it. I'm sure that you have probably had the experience of talking to a foreigner whose first language is not English, and they've inevitably asked you to "slow down please!". A foreign language usually seems very fast when you're first learning. It is imperative that the pronunciation articulate the words very slowly at first, and this CD set fails to do that in the most eggregious way.You should find yourself some other program to learn Russian. I know I need to toss this one aside and just consider it a lost gamble.
