At this price, I’m not certain that the medal itself is sterling (925/9.25% silver). To be frank, I assumed that it was described as “Sterling Silver OX,” that it would be the oxidized triple sterling _plating_ which has been done in Italy for a very long time in producing Catholic medallions. Since I immediately gifted it, I can’t be certain that’s the case, however. If being plated is a problem for you (it wasn’t for me), you should contact the seller directly to inquire. It was very attractive and well-crafted, so I was satisfied that I had bought it.

Q: what's on the back of the medal?

I cant say for sure as I have it attached to the dashboard of my vehicle. Id have to pry it off and I'm afraid I would damage the medal or the dashboard. Best to you and safe travels to you and yours.
