great story…but
So, this was a good book. It really was. Good characters, good story, good editing. There was only one VERY glaring issue that I had. I don’t want to give the story away. But the fact that this author that wrote a “lesbian love story” is fixated on the fact that a woman has to use a strap-on in order to have “real” sex and be able to “truly be in a relationship” is absolutely ridiculous and quite honestly a bit insulting. I can only assume that this woman is actually straight to have such a backwards and misinformed opinion about what constitutes “real” sex between women.

A beautiful love story
Heartache is having your husband die in a tragic accident. Rebecca is broken, and the only thing keeping her together is the new infatuation she finds with Mac. Mac is a beast when it comes to protecting someone she loves. Rebecca is a little older than Mac, and she is head over heels in love. A tragic beginning turns to a beautiful love story.

A steamy thriller
Great writing about women's fears and observations. The author has great insight into the cop mind, perverted, criminal, malicious; take your pick. For Flint, the cop, her story is chasing love with a relentless determination. For her lover, Rebecca, trust was paramount. The clever story of mingling pregnancy and love in the cop world was at times, excruciating, breathtaking and satisfying. Doc Winters was a good call.

🕶 Her 🔥
This book was intense right out the gates! Mac and Becca meet at an unfortunate time, but some things can't be helped. Their connection, their passion... it was undeniable. However, there was so much more to the story than just a simple romance. Very suspenseful and thrilling. With that being said, there are some ***Trigger Warnings - violence, discussion of past rape, attempted SA, etc. The story was good, but some sensitive material throughout.

Heart Stopper
This book is one of the best I have read. Marata Eros is a new author to me. This book is a must read. Be aware though, you may not be able to put it down. I will be reading it again.

Good story, but...
I thought it was an extremely engaging story. However, as some other reviewers have mentioned there is an attitude in this book that penetrative sex is the ultimate kind, and the goal that a lesbian couple works towards in their sexual relationship. That is not true for all lesbians. It is a good story though, and you can flip past any scenes that you don't like. The sex scenes are only about 10% of the book.

Dark and twisted
I never heard of this author and just stumbled over HER while looking for f/f romance.I like it dark from time to time and this was the finest dark romance! Loved the characters, loved the plot.I absolutely loved the protectiveness of Mac right from the start! She is a tough cop with a heart full of marshmallow feelings towards the poor woman laying on the concrete after an awful accident and tremendous loss. She will hold and protect her.She has to! It was chemistry right from the first glance although it’s highly inappropriate. But they don’t stand a chance.Rebecca needs HER just as much!Loved it!

Problematic, very problematic.
There will be some spoilers here, so beware.Firstly, this isn’t an age gap romance. A 33 year old with a 39 year old is far from qualifying. That isn’t the problematic part or even a problem at all, just a fact. The biggest problem I had with this book is the way that it is basically stated that sex between two women seemingly only counts if it includes being penetrated with a strap on. That the relationship can only be happy and healthy if both parties are willing to receive said strap on. That it is suggested that someone who had been the victim of a vicious rape essentially needs to get over it and allow her partner to eff her, or their sex life isn’t complete. This is a frankly disgusting attitude, and it ruined a story I was otherwise quite enjoying. I suggest that a woman who perceives intimate relationships between two women in that way should NEVER write about sex between women ever again.Without all of that, I could have tolerated the instances of homophobic language used by one character because they fit in context (although when the author’s attitude seemed to become clearer, began to leave a nasty taste in my mouth). I could have looked past the far fetched nature of a dirty cop who was being closely watched by internal affairs getting away with an apparent endless list of crimes, culminating with attempted rape and murder. All I can say, to finish this off is thank GOODNESS the book was free and I didn’t waste a single penny on it.
