You can just plug in the headphones. It has an active preamp. Batteries included.

Q: Can i play it on the beach? Like do I need to be plugged into anything or can I be away from a power source and play into my headphones with the batt

The instrument itself doesn't require any power source. If you have a headphone you can play it from anywhere, including on the beach.

Q: Can I use a tuner ro tune this item or does it have a self tuner attach to it?

There is no self tuner, you must use an attachable tuner or tune by self (ear)!
