A very simple and easy to read book. You are likely to think what Garr said are just common sense, yet, it is common sense in an uncommon world.The book preach of simplicity and brevity in presentation design. The book is design and written in the same principle. It is very easy to read and easy to remember.The book can be read in one setting in just a few hours, however, I personally do suggest to break it down and go slowly. Understand the principle through integration with your life.Quote a paragraph from the author"Our daily life moves fast, but awareness—the kind of awareness that leads to understanding and growth—needs a slower pace. Learn to set aside time each day, or as often as your busy life permits, to find alone time. Find a time during which you can slow down long enough to see the lessons around you and take special note of them. Over time, you’ll begin to strengthen your awareness and the lessons will seem to pop out more and more."

I really enjoy Garr Reynolds books, and that includes this book.Mr. Reynolds does a wonderful job of give a person ideas in the development of the “PowerPoint” presentation. I have been an instructor for years now. However, his books have really started taking my presentations to the next level. Not just in the looks, which is much improved over my passed one. But in how I present and use a the PowerPoint. The art of teaching has taken a back seat to teaching the test. It is time to change it back. This book will help in making that change.P.S.: Instructing is not reading the slide. The students can do that themselves. It is knowing the topics, being able to answer questions and communicate those ideas to the students.

Bought this book as it was required for one of my courses. It provided some useful information, but not too much of it was new information. I feel the book is directed more towards people outside of the design world that want to make quality PowerPoint presentations. Nothing against that, but at the end of the day it was simply a textbook I was required to read. Side note: the author's love for Japanese culture gets kind of old after awhile.

This is a little eccentric, but Zen usually is. I am a 7th grade English teacher, and I create a lot of presentations for my class on my own. The chapters on use of fonts, color, and images have really helped me to make my presentations pop. I had to buy this book for a college class, but I am using it more in my job. I like it!

This is a beautiful book and it almost feels sacred to hold it in your hands and turn the gorgeous pages. It is well laid out and relaxing on the mind to read. The information in this book is invaluable. I wish that I had known about it years ago. It has really changed my perspective.I bought 'Presentation Zen' by Garr Reynolds too and they are two of my favorite books on the bookshelf.

I finished this book in one day (while taking notes) in preparation for an important business presentation. I learned many useful and actionable strategies for better presentations.

Presentation zen helped me to rationalize many things I knew in a subliminal and perhaps emotional way. This book push you stand up from your seat, turn on your computer and try, try, try all the useful things you read. It's saturday night and I'll made the 20th version of a presentation I'll take next week, using some good practices read inside it.

Good book to enlighten any presenter on the key pieces to grab your audience....VISUALS. The author does a great job of presenting relevant examples to back up his points. Recommended read for anyone who has to perform any presentation.

A good beginning. Also this is my first book, so loved it. I can already see my ppt skills improving. Also, it is a must skill for anyone who has to ever create a ppt. Wish a similar book could be written for creating effective documents.

I have read the very good book "Presentation Zen" (2nd edition) from the same author. Nicely illustrated and in color. This book "Presentation Zen Design" is only B&W :-(Color is an important element in design. I can't quite understand the logic in publishing a book about design in black and white.
