Shania Twain - The Platinum Collection

I love this DVD, Shania Twain is my favorite country singer. I'm buying all of her videos. Great Music.

Good value ... if you can find a set to purchase. I was fortunately to buy a set rated "Condition: Used - Very Good" at a good price. These "Regions 0 (Worldwide)" DVDs are in "Picture Formats PAL = COLOUR" and play back on my Sony DVD Blu-Ray Regions 1 (US) player without any problems.

I'm a fan of just about every kind of music, so I bought this disc to serve as an introduction to Shania Twain's hits (I had already seen the "Behind the Music" piece on VH-1) and to tune up my ears better for country music. Since I'm somewhat new to the genre I don't have anything to compare this DVD to, but it's definitely a "thumbs up" on its own.First of all, I now love Shania's songs, and all 21 videos are fairly well produced (none of those cheesy ones reminiscent of the early days of MTV). In almost all cases, the focal point is Shania herself, sometimes acting within a little vignette. The filming and editing are pretty straightforward, as opposed to the more cutting edge production of contemporary pop/rock/rap videos. The tracks are ordered chronologically by album, although I'm not sure if this would hold true in terms of release dates. Three of the videos were filmed at live performances.In terms of visual content, more production becomes apparent in the later hits (bigger stars get bigger budgets for videos, I suppose). As producers, three names pop up most often: Steven Goldmann, Larry Jordan and Paul Boyd; however, I noticed John Derek and Sean Penn in the credits also. They all do fine work. I was particularly impressed with an earlier video, "The Woman in Me," which was filmed in Egypt (produced by Markus Blunder). "Don't Be Stupid" has some great rhythmic footwork by a troupe called Leahy. "You're Still The One" is a nice black & white video with some cool imagery. All things considered, each video is quite enjoyable.What's keeping this disc from a 5-star rating is the lack of trademark DVD characteristics: there's nothing in the way of additional video features (e.g., interviews, commentary), interactive menus, or liner notes. Enhanced (5.1) sound is also absent. Still, it's a worthwhile compilation of video hits by a great artist.

I’m a long time fan and love all the videos on this DVD. The picture quality however was probably not the best by the standards at the time it was made. I’m still happy with my purchase for the price and look forward to a possible digital remastered version.

The audio is okay, but the video looks like it was copied from a home VHS player. I viewed this with two different PC DVD players, and VLC was the best. Not happy with it.

I can't say that I am a big fan of her early work, though there are some good songs in there. However for a true Shania fan this is a must have because you can clearly see not only costume changes but even how she sings a song. It is like watching a kid grow up but in roughly an hour+. If you are only interested in her later work, the concert at Chicago would be a better dvd for you. I have both and like them for different reasons. Overall a good piece of work, with my only regret being that eventually there will have to be a "Platinum 2", and likely there will be duplications on the second one. Minor, but still it would be nice if music and movies did not re-hash themselves just to make even more money.

This is a great collection of music videos for any Shania fan.

So many artists give you an albumn of songs that sounds so much alike that by the time you finish you are tired of the artist. Or you pick out a couple of favorites and skip the rest. This albumn had such a variety of songs, backgrounds, costumes and setups that I sometimes had to look again to make sure it was Shania Twain. Great variety. I use this DVD to demonstrate to people how great home theater can be. For the men there are some sexy music videos and for the women there are some very beautiful and romanitic videos. I also take this with me on those 12 hour flights and play it on my laptop as it has the variety of a number of albumns all tied into one. I love it. Now if Cher would only learn to do variety like this!!!!

I bought this DVD for my mother who insisted that she knew who Shania Twain is and was a fan of her music. After receiving the DVD she realised that it was a different artist she had in mind and that this was not what she was expecting. That said, the disc is in perfect condition and played from start to finish without error.If you are a fan of Shania Twain and are familiar with her music, you will love this DVD for its wonderful selection of clean, clear, enjoyable songs and videos.As for my mother, she will keep it anyway, as there is nothing not to like about Shania Twain!

カントリーポップの歌姫を十二分に満喫できました。このDVDは本当にお値打ちでした。

シャナイア・トゥエインは、カントリーなのかポップなのかポップ・ロックなのかという評価論があるらしいですが、それらの音楽を全てふくめてシャナイアの音楽だということが、このビデオ集を観て感じます。有名なロバート・パーマのパロディ・ビデオもあったりして楽しめました。
