HTH 52008 Super Shock Treatment Swimming Pool Cleaner, Pack of 6

This is typical shock that you really need for those hot summer months when algae forms so easily. It did the trick! It was cheaper than the pool stores nearby, and was equally effective in eliminating the yellow and green algae that forms in Florida inground pools!!

We used to always use liquid shock but having to store the large 2.5g jugs, along with the potential of spillage, and storage in general caused us to move to powdered shock. When I started researching options, I compared a few brands with regard to the amount of chemical per pound of powder. HTH Super Shock came in as the best value (assuming the percentage of chlorine is accurate) per pound. We've been using this product now for 3 months and so far, it is working very well (measured by weekly chem tests).The only suggestion I would have is possibly a grid/table/chart for those who struggle with how much to use and/or may not have a kitchen scale as well as graduated marking on the package. The dosage amount is simple to calculate but it would be helpful with a quick table like: "1/4 package (4oz) for 3400 gallons, 1/2 package (8oz for 6750 gallons, etc.) and graduated lines printed to help dosage.

THIS PRODUCT SEEMED TO MAKE POOL A LIGHTER COLOR GREEN, DIDNT REALLY SEE INSTANT REACTION LIKE PACKAGE CLIAMS, BUT NOT A POOL GUY. JUST A HOME OWNER TRYINIG TO TAKE CARE OF HIS POOL NOW SINCE POOL GUY KEEP CHARGING ME WHEN HE WASNT COMING BY. I HAVE CAMERAS AROUND MY HOUSE AND POOL WAS ALWAYS A MESS, SO FIGURED I WOULD GIVEIT A GO AND SAVE 150 A MONTH. I END UP BUYING ANOTHER 6 BAGS AND PURIFER. AFTER ADDING 12 BAGS OF THIS OVER A WEEKS TIME AND A WHOLE BOTTLE OF PURIER, MY POOL FINALLY CLEAR AGAIN, SO PRODUCT DO WORK. ITR JUST TAKES A WHILE AND MORE BAGS THEN I THOUGHT I NEEDED. ALL N ALL I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN.

For years we have used the Clorox Extra Blue shock in our pool. We live in an area that’s extremely hot and humid, with afternoon storms frequently in the summer. We had to shock weekly or it would go green. But I just thought that’s the way it goes. I bought the HTH shock because it was on sale and I had reward points on my credit card. The reviews were mostly positive. I shocked it once and then again in a week out of habit. Today I had planned to do it again, even though my pool looks amazing and clear. I thought I should do it to stay ahead of the game. Instead I decided to test my water since I haven’t so far this season. My chlorine level was maxed out. I shouldn’t have shocked it last week apparently. I’m sold. This product is much better than what I was using before.

The first picture is what I started out with. The next picture is after using five bags of shock! I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT.say that it worked as well as it says it supposed to! Still not clear, only trying to get it ready to close at this point ! $10.00 a bag WHAT A WAIST OF MONEY‼️

This stuff works a lot better than the Clorox salt pool shock I purchased at Lowe's. It took almost six of the 1 lb bags of Clorox to clear the haze of algae in my pool. After reading reviews, I figured I would give hth I try, and I'm glad I did. Within 24 hours, one bag got my pool crystal clear, and adding one bag a week, has kept it clear despite several days of intense rain. I would definitely recommend this product.

I've been using this for four years and much prefer it to the old liquid shock I used to use.Great that it's pre-measured, even better that it kills the algae and keeps the water clear without an overwhelming chlorine smell. (We do have an ionizer, so that also helps reduce the amount of chlorine needed. ) And instead of a big plastic jug to throw away, it's just the plastic packets.

This works and works fast. Just remember, if you are using it to kill beginning algae you'll need to manually vacuum out to waste afterward, as the filter will just push the dead algae (which looks a little like sand) right back into the pool and create a cloudy pool from the particles, and then you'll need a clarifier. The only problem that I see here is overpricing. I have purchased this here before when the price was good, however, currently it's set at more than twice what I paid at the local big box store recently for the same 6 pack (under $20), so you might want to compare pricing.
