Good light formulation.
This BHA exfoliating serum from Facetheory is pleasant to apply on my combination skin. It has a good amount of BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) that is great for exfoliating the skin’s surface revealing soft, smoother, and younger looking skin.It comes in a 30ml push pump-style container that squirts out a good amount of serum each time. The serum has a lovely white colour that quickly absorbed into my skin, leaving it feeling smooth and looking dewy. It does tingle and make the skin feel warm for a few minutes though. The serum is made without all the nasties such as parabens, mineral oils, PEGs, SLSs, SLES, silicone and it’s also cruelty-free and suitable for vegans. With BHA, you’ll need to be careful not to overuse it and not to use too many exfoliating acid-based products at the same time. Too much of exfoliating acids could damage your skin barrier resulting in a variety of skin irritations such as itchy, red and inflammation, or even burns. You also don’t want to mix other actives such as retinols or antioxidants when using BHA products for the same reasons above.A good rule of thumb, it’s always wise to do a patch test before applying a new skincare on your face to see for any reactions. This serum is available on Amazon for £18.99 (at the time of writing), which is a good price to pay for a good product with good natural ingredients. All in all, a lovely exfoliating serum that makes my skin smooth, soft and brighter. If you don’t have any problems using BHA products, then this serum is worth a try.

Exfoliant
I was quite surprised to find that this serum was a thick, white fluid rather than a typical serum consistency and it is difficult to dispense the recommended couple of drops from the bottle as the pump dispense a much larger amount per pump, no matter how much you try to take just a small quantity. The box, bottle and leaflet all guide that you should apply a couple of drops after shaking the bottle to activate (and probably mix) the contents and there are warnings in the leaflet:* Do a test application and then wait a couple of days to see if you experience an adverse reaction before continuing to use afterwards.* Avoid the sun. Your skin will be more sensitive and prone to sunburn, so you need to wear sunscreen or you could end up causing it more damage.* Don’t use this if you are allergic to aspirin* Don’t use if pregnant or under the age of 18.It is pleasing to see a leaflet inside the box with the product that contains the above warnings, although no guidance is provided about frequency of use, which I find surprising. This is an exfoliant and I am unsure if it is safe for use twice daily or if it should only be used a couple of times per week. I am choosing to use twice weekly at night before my night cream and haven’t suffered any reaction, but am mindful of the need to use a sunscreen during the day. My skin doesn’t look any different to be honest, but maybe it needs to be used more frequently. The bottle label has writing in white on a green background. It is far too small to read and needs a rethink so that it stands out if the bottle becomes separated from the box and leaflet. More guidance about frequency of use should be added to the box, bottle and leaflet as this is currently absent.

Doesn't go with every moisturiser!
I am a Facetheory fan due to their amazing ingredients list which (to my knowledge) does not contain anything harmful - you can check this using a cosmetic analyzer such as SkinCarisma online.Good things:- I like the formula, it is lightwieght and absorbs into the skin instantly- Good for dry and oily faces (and those in between)- Good for my semi sensitive skin- Any time I notice my skin being flaky or if I feel like there is a lot of product build-up on my face, this exfoliant does a good job of getting rid of that. Not so good things:- Does not always mix well with every moisturiser. Not sure if this is the fault of my moisturiser (also a Facetheory product called the 'Aventhra Moisturiser') or the BHA exfoliant since the exfoliant comes before the moisturiser.Overall, this product may not be for everyone (especially for the price) but Facetheory do offer free returns as well as refunds if a product is not up to your liking within the first 30 days after purchase. It might be worth a shot for those who don't mind the price.

Great for acne prone skin
I absolutely love Facetheory products. The quality of products and ingredients used is high plus they are very reasonably priced. This BHA Exfoliating Serum S3 with 2% Salicylic Acid and Green Tea Extract is a lovely product particularly for people with acne prone skin like myself. The bottle has a dispenser which allows you to easily control how much to use. This has a nice consistency – not too thick or thin which allows it to easily be applied to the skin. It also has a creamy milky colour to it. Since using this my spots have been getting better – it has certainly targeted excess sebum which contributes to acne and therefore not making my skin as oily. Any spots that I am getting have been reducing and going within a couple of days. The skin also looks brightly as this product gentle exfoliates any dead skin cells. As this contains BHA’s it is always recommended to wear sun cream.Highly recommended.

A great investment for your skin.
I have used Facetheory products for a while and find them all excellent. A big bonus is all their products are made in the UK. This BHA Exfoliant serum is unlike their other serums I have used. It is a different consistency to most serums but is very effective at exfoliating and preparing the skin for moisturising.Easily absorbed and a light texture you can only just discern the tea tree extract scent. A few drops is all you need to completely cover the face and neck area. I am really happy with this product and will continue to use and feel this product is effective and offers great value for the cost it is offered for sale at currently. I highly recommend.
