Word by Word Picture Dictionary English/Spanish Edition

Absolutely the best learning tool for Latinos (or really anyone) to master real-life English. It's a picture dictionary with images grouped by theme, and definitions/descriptions of the images written below in English and in Spanish. I used it my first year of teaching English to Latino adults in a job-readiness program, then hauled them back and forth with me to the local community college when I started teaching there. I like that the vocabulary is taught in groups of words where appropriate, because this is how we actually use them. Looking at the pictures while reading the words increases retention and understanding at all levels, as does seeing the words and images grouped by usage rather than alphabetically. If you are a teacher or tutor, check out the questions at the bottom of most pages - they can spark an entire discussion or writing activity to enforce the words covered.Adults and children love to use this book, and I find myself reviewing pages on work-related verbs from time to time to keep my Spanish updated. There are entire pages devoted to various USEFUL topics such as landscaping tools, medical supplies, classroom phrases, emotions, phrasal verbs, outdoor games types of buildings - just about any topic you'd want to teach or learn. These books go perfectly with the entire Side-by-Side teaching series, but you could also use them with any other resource. I own most picture dictionaries on the market, and these are the ones that I'd miss if I lost them. These are the ones my students reach for, too.

I used this as a text book when I taught English as a Second Language. It's a great help in many ways. This one I bought for my grandson who is anxious to learn Spanish.

O livro é ótimo para mim, por que estudo inglês e espanhol ao mesmo tempo, mas algo faltou que foi o CD, pois livro é caro e deveria vim o CD junto no pacote.

Buen libro, muy bonito el diseño, muy agradable la traduccion, muy completo, solo le falta que este más actualizado al 2018 ya que hay algunas imágenes o traducciones de cosas que ya no se usan desde hace más de 5 años

Buscaba un libro de vocabulario en inglés ilustrado con dibujos y me arriesgue .Me he llevado una gran sorpresa de la sencillez y lo bien ilustrado que está.Para personas como yo que tenemos dislexia es ideal ,ya que somos muy visuales.El nivel es un intermedio,es el segundo que compró porque el primero me lo quitaron de las manos.La única pega que pongo es que no venga un CD de pronunciación.Creo que los audios son aparte .

Un buen libro para aprender vocabulario sin necesidad de buscarlo separadamente. Multitud de situaciones y objetos de la vida cotidiana con su correspondiente dibujo y su traducción al castellano. De esta forma es entretenido aprender vocabulario. Tengo nivel FIRST y hay muchas palabras que no conocía, por lo que lo recomiendo para todos los niveles, incluído Advanced.
