Pain relief
I use this for my menstrual cramps. I used hot faucet water and filled it up all the way the first time, but it wasn’t hot enough for me to relive the cramps I was experiencing. I think I used too much water so I dumped some out for it to lay flat on my body. It was okay. The second time, I tried boiling hot water (from an electric kettle pot) and it worked so much better. Even with the bottle sleeve, it did get really hot I had to use an extra towel over it. I didn’t fill it up all the way this time either. I used it for like 10 or 12 minutes and my cramps were almost gone (even took midol).I have yet to try it cold.I really like this bottle, the sleeve is soft, and the rubber feels durable. Idk how much longer it will last if I keep using boiling water, but I rarely use it so hopefully it will last me a long time.

Nice product
I didn't see any review at the time of purchase, so I hesitated to buy it, but took a chance and glad I bought it. It is exactly as described, as you see in the picture. I fill with water of temperature right before boiling, and it stays very warm for about 30 minutes, and stay somewhat warm for additional one hour or so. I've been using microwave heat pad, and heat on those only last for about 20 mintes, so wanted something that lasted longer. Cover is very nice and soft and the best part is you can insert your hands there. I find it such a unique and great idea. Also it is very easy to fill water. I like it. Glad I bought it. Took one star out because I wished the heat lasted just a bit longer, but I still like it.

No leak so far
I've used this hot water bottle every night for over a month now. So far so good! My main concern was leakage since I mostly use it in bed to warm my feet, so I wanted something durable enough to take all that tossing and turning through the night. No leak so far and it stays hot under the comforter for a couple of hours. It's somewhat warm when I get up the next morning. The cover is soft and thick enough. I love the pocket design. The only thing may wear off easily is the velcro, since I machine wash the cover every other week.

Alternate Use: Pet warmer
This is a long story but the short is my neighbor semi-abandoned her cat for six weeks and the cat chose my wife and I as her new home. (We live across the street, and don't worry -- her Mom is actually okay with this.) So we've got this cat the spends nights in our garage, which even in CA gets a little cold in winter. It's easy to plug in a heating pad (or the like) but I wanted an non-electrical solution. Then it hit me a hot water bottle. When I hand wash dishes it can get really hot -- and so -- I fill it with hot tap. The cat doesn't seem to need a warmer -- because sometimes she won't rest next to it -- but often she does. The next morning I water the plants with that water. Inexpensive solution, right?

some plusses, some minuses -- the cover is useless
I bought this for the purpose of easing arthritis pain in my hand. Using it with the cover, however, is useless because the cover is soooo thick that you feel very little warmth. I tried it without the cover, and it was fine (same effect, basically, as your standard drugstore hot water bottle). The shape, of this hot water bottle, however, is not ideal for the hand. I imagine, however, that it would be great for, say, abdominal pain relief. In that regard, it is better than your standard drugstore hot water bottle because it covers a larger surface area.Depending on your heat tolerance, you just need to be careful about how hot the water is that you fill it with; you might also want to make sure you either have a layer of clothing underneath it OR use a light towel or something to protect the skin. Also: I'm able to get water that's quite hot from my tap (as long as I let it run for a bit), so that's what I used. Since this was adequate, I haven't used boiling water from my teapot -- seems like an unnecessary risk because the hot tap water did the trick. I recomment caution here ... perhaps heating your water to just under the boiling point. One more cautionary note: be extra careful, especially when trying to fill the hot water bottle to the max -- if you hold it to fill it, do NOT set it down on the counter or whatever to screw on the lid as hot water fill pour out of the top on to your hand. Either don't fill it all the way ... or hold the hot water bottle aloft while screwing the lid on.

Burnt my skin pretty bad
I’ve been sleeping with a hot water bottle under the blankets, usually by my feet, for as long as I can remember; at least 20 years. I’ve never had one burn me, ever. I couldn’t find my regular bottle after we moved so I ordered this one and used it last night. I woke up this morning to some pretty nasty burns …blistering ones. I didn’t realize that the cover of the bottle made such a difference but it obviously does. The cover this bottle comes with is just too thin. I learned the hard way and I’m in a lot of pain now because of it.

Great Deal
I love that it's smaller than a standard size and the cute 70s colours made my day. Holds heat for a long time. You'll never get a deal for something like this anywhere else. Buy it.
