Requiem

Oh Korn. How I've loved and lost you over the years. Catching them live at Manchester Apollo in 2000 on the Issues tour and staying true to them for the next few years at least, and then leaving them for newer and better bands. Returning years later and catching up with albums missed, I realised I hadn't missed much. The Serenity Of Suffering amd The Nothing reminded me of how great they could be. This new album though at only 32 mins in length is a disappointment. Its not bad !! But I'm left trying to recall any songs after listening to it. Nothing here memorable. Yes its still new, but after 5 plays now it's just not hitting. Still a fan. Always will be. But I'm listening to Issues as I type this and wonder what happened to this sound. Folk will love it and some won't. I may even change my opinion over time but this is very underwhelming.

After hearing a single song on a streaming service I knew I needed to own this CD. Korn have always surprised me with their musical evolution but their ability to remain familiar.This cd is Korn how I remember them from their untouchable & follow the leader days. The heat in the messages is true to korns style the instruments all have the sound I love. The only thing I miss is the sound of fieldy smashing his dirty bass lines out in his slap style only fieldy produces.In the end I give this cd top marks.

I have been a Korn fan since the first album and buy every Korn album without fail. The Nothing was a massively powerful and crafted album, sadly this sounds like a collection of the boring left overs... It's not rubbish - just one that probably won't get played much again.

Sicher und akkurat zugestellt! Grosses Lob!Das 14. Machwerk, der kalifornischen Nu Metal/Crossover- Pioniere ist wieder sehr gut geworden. Der rauhe Sound der Anfangstage schimmert aber diesmal wieder durch. Zum Glück! Der erste Richtungswechsel ab 2002, mit dem Album "Untouchables" brachte mehr Melodie und legte den Fokus auf das Songwriting. Nach einigen Experimenten mit Hip Hop -Beats und Dubstep, widmeten sich Korn 2013 mit " The paradigm shift" der Grundessenz von Metal/Rock."Requiem" schliesst nicht direkt an "The Serenity of Suffering "(2016) und "The nothing" (2019) an, diese Platte hier, ist härter, rauher und erinnert bei einigen Parts, an den Dark-Rock von Katatonia, oder neuerem Material von In Flames. Anleihen, feine Nuancen, kein kopieren, das haben Korn nicht nötig...Was 1994 mit ihrem selbstbetitelten Debüt-Album begann, mit einem Raunen in der Metal-Szene, vielen Fans und auch nicht wenigen Hatern, wurde bereits sehr früh zur Erfolgsgeschichte.Mit "Requiem" gibt es jetzt keine Innovation an sich, Korn haben sich nicht neu erfunden, oder hätten Jazz und Reggae für sich entdeckt, nein...aber der Mix aus modernem Rock mit groovigen Metal -mit viel Gefühl und Harmonie, beweist das es die Jungs aus Bakersfield immer noch draufhaben.Wo Licht ist, ist aber leider auch (etwas) Schatten: 9 Songs werden feilgeboten, eine spärliche Gesamtspieldauer, von knapp über 30 Minuten, einige Fans hätten sich mehr erwartet.Vielleicht deutet es auch daraufhin, das noch einiges an Songmaterial übrig ist, und die Kombo uns in nicht zu ferner Zukunft, ein weiteres Album beschert? Wäre kein Nachteil!Fazit: solider, guter Sound zum mitnicken und auch zum kompletten durchdrehen, es hätte nur etwas länger ausfallen können!
