Shadowcast 3wt Fiberglass Fly Rod, 7 ft 6 in, 3 Piece

The handle appears to be too big for a 3 weight. It dwarfs the proper reel typically associated for 3 wt. outfit. Nice materials, nice enough fit and finish. I opted to buy a used Cabelas 3 wt fiberglass fly rod on a very popular auction site for a fraction and it is a gem.

The rod has an excellent capacity for accurate casting. Throw some Rio Creek line on it to maximize it's ability. I bumped up the weight to see how it handles with the strain of four and five weight lines. Feels true to it's class at a three weight, which is unusual these days.

The Moonlit 7.6 fiberglass rod is perfect for small Blue Ridge mtg streams especially when streamside brush makes backdated difficult. It's slow action helps with accuracy of roll casts and allows gentle presentations. I am very impressed with it! It compares favorably with glass rods costing 2 or 3 times as much.
