Lost Race of the Giants: The Mystery of Their Culture, Influence, and Decline throughout the World

Let's Chuck the History Books
This book was a real eye-opener. I would make a guess that 80% of the American population is oblivious to the information contained in this book. While the tv series, Ancient Aliens, touches briefly on this topic, Chouinard jumps right in gives us the real dope on this phenomenon. He documents his findings with newspaper articles and official reports, including names that can be verified. This book, however, made me lose faith in institutions such as the Smithsonian. Every institution has its agendas and it's time someone brought some light onto the subject. A riveting read.

More to know about Giants than you ever expected
Lost Race of Giants is well written and researched. It gives a clear view that giants have been on the earth at different times through out history and their remains have been found in all areas. It is a good review of basic mythology, deities, geography, history of the earth, and possibilities for Atlantis. It is a good starting point for a study of giants.

A HIGHLY THOUGHTFUL, WELL RESEARCHED & INTELLIGENTLY ARTICULATED BOOK ON THE SUBJECT OF GIANTS!
Not to read this amazing book on the subject of giants would be to simply cheat yourself of an amazing learning opportunity. Patrick Chouinard does a masterful and thoroughly thoughtful job of presenting the blinding glimpse of the obvious based on comprehensive research . . . giants have existed over the history of the earth and continue to their presence!

An OK enough guide on ancient giants
This book tells of the idea that our world was once inhabited by a race of giants- beings much like ourselves but somewhat bigger. It explains the mythological traditions of giants in the myths and legends of numerous cultures worldwide. It also tells a bit about human skeletons larger than the skeletons of us Homo sapiens. It speculates on whether some ancient megalithic monuments were built by giants. There's also a little bit of info on the possibility of the survival of Gigantopithecus (which some think may have been bipedal and somewhat humanoid in form) in this day and age, something which has also been speculated on by various cryptozoologists.Overall, Lost Race of the Giants is an interesting enough book. There's not all that much info provided but the info that is there is quite intriguing. I myself was particularly intrigued by the report on the Mont Pelee volcanic eruption of 1902 on the island of Martinique in the West Indies, and how life forms on the island, including the local human populace, grew a bit larger after the eruption (speculated to have been connected to radiation released from the volcano). There are some criticisms I have.On page 33 it is claimed that chlorine-23 dating showed Stonehenge as dating to 25 000 BCE, far far older than traditionally thought. This sounds very interesting, but unfortunately no mention is given of when these dating test were done other than that it was recently, nor of who did the dating tests or of where one could find out more about it. Thus it is difficult to tell how valid or invalid the claim is.On page 71, when speaking of Norse mythology, we hear that "Examples of the magical races include orcs, trolls, elves, half gods, and, of course, giants". While most of these are indeed found in Norse mythology, orcs are not. Orcs are in fact not from any mythology but are a creation of fantasy author J. R. R. Tolkien, who created them as a more sinister version of goblins. Finally, the author claims aliens interfered with our evolution around 500 000 years ago, similar to what has been often claimed by such authors as Zechariah Sitchin. I find this to be a rather unnecessary claim as there is nothing to suggest we humans couldn't have developed just fine on our own. And seeing as the author also consider ancient and prehistoric people as more clever and capable than often thought it seems strange he feels alien intervention must have occurred.Despite my criticisms though, I overall did like the book. For those who don't know much about the subject of possible giant species of humans in the past but are interested in learning more, this book is a good source of info for doing so.

Love the theory!
The fact that I to believe that there was a totally different world before the flood is why I am drawn to the ideals of this book. The book basically agree with my feeling of a world before this one that we live in now. There's just to many discovery coming to light regarding the past that go unanswered. I to feel that mainstream scientists are refusing to accept any new evidence that supports another view of what our past was, despite findings to the contrary. Let's keep an open mind and look at the evidence-based facts before closing doors on what very well may change our paradigm for how we see our origin!

I really enjoyed it.
For such a documented area you will not see mention of "giants" in mainstream literature. As a college grad with a BS in biology I was taught that a scientist was a gatherer of information wether it backed you original hypothesis or not you were to share that information for others to use and critique. Why the hiding of anthropological information is still going on in the 21st century is beyond me. The hypocrisy of anthropologists calling themselves and burying information that doesn't match their hypotheses is NOT the work of a true scientist. These types of books HAVE to go mainstream for the education of all men. I really enjoyed it.

How Do You Seperate Myth from Reality?
In Lost Race of the Giants, Patrick Chouinard, works with the premise that most legends and myths contain a modicum of the truth. He sifts through the mythology of different cultures around the world to try to find that nugget of reality to prove that at one time there were giants. He includes the archaeology discoveries around the world. He cites the finds of Gigantopithecus and Meganthropus as examples of proof that giants did indeed roam the earth. The archaeology records of the mound builders in America provide ample proof of giants known as the Adena once thrived. But evidence of giants is a global story. Chouinard takes the reader on a round-the-world excursion through the remote past to examine each myth to extract what could be proof of the existence of giants. I found this book fascinating

The religious beliefs of the author are preposterous presuppositions, and because of that, this book isn't interesting. There are also no notes in the book, no sources, etc., so it really is a pointless read.

Superficial content about a great topic
Basically a 20 $ book that looks more like a timid bachelor homework mostly quoting all the others references on the subject and developing nothing. This book try to develop a theory about giant but end up concluding about ancient aliens and Atlantis theories... deja vu

Excellent book!
This book is totally fascinating! And also very convincing. It's extremely readable and entertaining but at the same time seems well researched and full of interesting historical, mythological and archaeological mystery. I'd recommend it to anyone with an enquiring mind.

I love this kind of material
I love this kind of material, but there is zero original research here. The book is essentially a collection of google search results and quotations from the work of other writers, especially those involved in the Ancient Aliens TV series. For example, starting on page 119, there is a series of newspaper reports from the USA in the 19th century. These reports are reproduced for the reader, but there is no follow-up. The author did not go to the locations in the reports, contact descendants of the witnesses or try to track what happened to the remains. It is by no means the only example of this problem in the book. This is a far cry from the depth of investigation we get from authors like Graham Hancock.
