Harriet Tubman: Conductor on the Underground Railroad Paperback – August 14, 2007

Harriet Tubman was a remarkable woman. Tiny, strong, and extraordinarily brave. She could’ve stayed in Pennsylvania, never returning to Maryland after her escape, but instead she regularly risked her life in order to help other slaves reach freedom. Harriet Tubman: Conductor on the Underground Railroad is an excellent and very interesting biography. It’s filled with stories of her experiences while conducting her passengers on the Underground Railroad as well as talking about her life growing up in slavery and what she did after slavery was abolished. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in or learning about the life of Harriet Tubman!

After reading an excerpt in our textbook, I bought this to share with my class. Well-written and thoughtful, though dated by modern standards, it is a good companion to our study of Harriet Tubman.

Stunning tale of the life of a heroine of the anti-slave movement, a remarkable woman of action who led many "trains" in the Underground Railroad. A true cry for freedom, led by someone who just felt the cause of freedom in her very being. I liked the way her personal life story was interspersed with snippets from the political and military story of the time.Indeed, one of the remarkable lessons of the book is that in spite of the efforts of the slavers, the slaves did have an idea of the social changes in the outside world, and acted accordingly. Not much on her personal feelings, probably because we do not know. For her, actions spoke louder than words.

Unfortunately I don't think I ever learned about Harriet Tubman when I was in school, which was many years ago. I don't think I ever heard of her till recently when there was talk about putting her on our currency. Since I have become quite interested in the Civil War & surrounding years when I saw this on Bookbub.com I decided to get it. I think it is really good! She was a remarkable woman & incredibly fearless & I hope they do put her on one of our bills. I would say this is a must read for anyone even remotely interested in that time period. It's very well written & was hard to put down.

This is one of the best historical books I have ever read. The author makes you feel like you are actually involved in the story and not just reading it. It held my attention all through the book and kept me turning the pages. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who the slightest interest in the history of the flight to freedom of the slaves in the southern states .

I've always known about Harriet Tubman being one of the leaders of the Underground Railroad because that was the center of my learning in school. What I didn't know was that this woman, in her 30s, shepherded folks from MD to PA, NY and even Canada while dealing with narcolepsy at any give moment; difficult wardrobe; and heartache. It's no wonder that she really was the Moses of her people. I found this version of her story to be solid, well-rounded, and told as a sort of a "This is Harriet in a nutshell." Who knows what else she did that WASN'T recorded...

This is such a middle school to high school aged book. Idk but the read could have been better. Hard to describe.

Fantastic, easy to read book with a concise, interesting and exciting history of this amazingly underated heroin in history!

I enjoyed reading the history of this brave woman, who risked her own life to freed so many slaves from bondage. A truly inspiring story of victory through perseverance and strong belief that all human being are born to be free. Well reccomended.

Bought it for my daughter to read and she enjoy reading it
