Amazing book! 👏
When I came across this book for the first time I was skeptical since I am not a Wiccan. After reading the Greek religion by Walter Burkert, it gave me a better understanding of the ancient Greek religion. Some reconstructions might argue that the ancient Greeks did or did not performed witchcraft on a daily basis while invoking the gods. Curse tablets have been found in ancient Greek ruins which proofs the Greeks performed witchcraft. This book was beautifully put together! It gives insight on the Greek gods , and some Roman gods; which I personally have no interest since the Roman's copied the Greek gods and changed there names. This book has easy and simple rituals that any new beginner can follow. I highly recommend this book!

Great Survey of Greek Gods & Modern Practices for Witches
So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed this book. The survey of the various Greek (and some Roman) Gods and Goddesses provides a nice overview for practitioners. I especially enjoyed the coverage of the Titans, other primordial forces, and "lesser Gods." They are often overlooked in other books and should provide some insight for those wishing to explore deities and sacred beings beyond the usual Olympians. It was refreshing and interesting reading the Guest Passages and how modern witches and pagans are working with the Greek Gods today. The appendices provided a nice basic (and useful) overview of a calendar of festivals, spell structure, and ritual structure. I found myself wanting to go deeper at times, but the bibliography is full of books and articles for those wishing to continue their studies. I've already suggested it to other practicing witches and pagans looking to explore and work with the Greek Gods in our current age. Note that this is not a book for reconstructionists.

For beginners to Hellenistic worship
If you are new to Hellenistic witchcraft and worship, this is a good starting point. If you are experienced in Greek Gods and Goddesses and their stories and history... This is probably not for you. Also, this book is not aimed at reconstructionism. This is stated by the authors at the start. What you will get from this book:Step 1.An honest and deep look at the history and knowledge of a God and Goddess.Step 2.An insight essay from a devotee or authorStep 3.Spells for said Diety.Later in the book you will have a lil cheat sheet for "spell structure" (picture included) and a paltry entry on how to perform a ritual (pictures not included)That is it.What you will not get from this book is a fresh "modern witchcraft" perspective on how to worship the Greek pantheon. No new spin or ideas on how a modern practitioner can build a working practice around the Greek pantheon. This is a modernized approach to what has already been said. I give it three stars for that. If you are looking for ideas or a starting point on how to worship the Greek pantheon... Look elsewhere.

Amazing book! I devoured it's contents in a matter of days!
This book is absolutely amazing! You can tell the authors put a lot of time and research into making this work of art. To have the mythologies and ways of working with the Greek Gods in one place makes an amazingly, wonderful resource to have on your shelves!

I love this book so much!
Jason Mankey and Astrea Taylor’s Modern Witchcraft with the Greek Gods: History, Insights & Magickal Practice is a must-have book for anyone interested in modern witchcraft and the ancient gods of Greece. It is a brilliant and accessible book for the Modern Witch who wants to explore or deepen their relationship with the theoi, daimones, and heroes of Ancient Greece. The book is extremely well researched, drawing on and referencing historical primary sources, without trying to be a historical reconstruction of times past. The brilliance of this book is its approachability and applicability of incorporating these divinities in a context that any modern witch can easily incorporate into their craft. Mankey, Taylor, and several of their contributors show how the timeless myths, lore, and mysteries of Ancient Greece can be approached and integrated through creative spellwork and ritual in today’s age. The authors provide a comprehensive look at the gods and goddesses of ancient Greece, including Hekate, Pan, Artemis, Aphrodite, and many other deities from the Greek Pantheon.Greek Gods: History, Insights & Magickal Practice will prove to you through direct experience that the gods of Greece aren’t merely dust covered archaic statues of stories lost to the mists of time but rather that they are still as alive, powerful, and thriving as they were in ancient and classical times. It’s full of helpful information and can be used as a reference for both beginners and experienced practitioners. It offers creative insights on how to work with the Gods and bring them into your craft practice, as well as how to apply the ancient wisdom of the Gods in a modern context. It also provides practical tools and techniques to help you begin to explore the mysteries of the Greek Pantheon as a witchcraft practitioner. Even if you don’t plan on using these gods in your practice, the book is still a great resource for learning more about these ancient deities. This is probably the best book that balances accessibility, inclusivity, and approachability on the subject while being grounded in meticulous research that shows the authors’ passion for the subject. Highly recommended.
