Great alternative to Crush Step 1
I'm a second year medical student studying for Step 1 alongside my classes (my school pretty much follows an organ based / block curriculum). My main resources for Step are First Aid, Pathoma, UWorld, BRS Physiology, and Sketchy. I felt like I needed something to supplement First Aid and I'd heard that Crush Step 1 is great as an additional single resource. I tried it out, but I personally didn't really like the format (written paragraphs). This book adds similar background information (including additional images, tables, mnemonics, and key facts) but in outline format. Basically, it's a nice alternative to Crush Step 1. I would not use both. A few things:- If you can afford it, it's worth buying the new version. I compared the 2nd/3rd editions and the organization of the 3rd edition is better.- It closely follows the Organ Systems chapters of FA so it's easy to use the two resources together (aka you could easily use this book to annotate First Aid)- Each Organ System chapter starts on a new page, so you can unbind the book and separate it by system.Good luck!

Fantastic and incredible improvement over the previous version
Fantastic and incredible improvement over the previous version. It is much more organized and it has general information, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of the high-yielding pathologies in that order. Key facts, mnemonics, clinical correlations and, flash backs are on the sides and provide great additional details. I recommend this book and applaud the authors and editors for this incredible improvement over the last book.

but it's a great book to get someone started studying for STEP
The explanations are far more in-depth than those in the standard First Aid books. It may not have as much general information about every disease process, but it's a great book to get someone started studying for STEP.

Excellent Review Book
So far, I love this book for reviewing basic organ system concepts, is an expanded version of the first aid in terms that it explains the concepts written on the first aid very well (although not as detailed). Is a good investment :)
