Stuttering: An Integrated Approach to Its Nature and Treatment

My son developed a moderate stuttering problem at age 5. I found the book helpful. It's not so much a guide for dealing with the problem (like do steps A, B, and C then you're cured) as it is a review of the current applied research. It's a lot more information than I've found anywhere else. It left us very prepared to talk with speech therapists.In the end, I had to conclude that nobody is sure why this happens or whether early intervention really works.My mother mentioned by change that I stuttered badly for a short time and recovered. The text discusses that there is a strong relationship within families. Sure enough, at age 5 1/2, my son's stuttering is down to almost nothing. It was quite a relief.

Used this book in my Graduate classes in Speech Pathology. It is an easy read. My professor didn't use it much but on the Assessment part. But it was really easy to read and I liked to assessment part due to going in detail. Good reference for when you get out in the real world.

The contents of the book are excellent. A wonderful resource for any student or practicing SLP. The physical book itself that I rented was in terrible condition.

The book was in great condition, but it took a while before I got it. But in the end it was a very good buy, love this book!

This book is written really well with information that is not terribly complicated, yet informative. It explains fluency issues well and isn't a difficult read. It also includes pictures and diagrams that are very helpful.

Great book. Easy read and easy to understand

I love love love this text. Guitar is a good writer, good organizer etc. This book is as easy and fun to read as a Psychology Todaymagazine is for me.
