As I get older (70 now) I find myself wanting nicer things. In this case you get what you pay for. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen now days and wanting to spoil myself, I purchased these lighter weight knives that are extremely sharp. I tried a number of other Japanese manufactures, but for the money Shun was the best. I Highly recommend this company!

I loved the knife and used it occasionally for a year until a chip out of nowhere fell of the edge of the blade. Must be a defect in the steel, now the knife is unusable
