works better than a regular fan
It is basically a fan, but better than a regular fan due to the water evaporation from the water tank. With the lowest fan speed, I put the fan 6 feet away from my desk where I work with my computer. It gives me pleasant cooler breeze. As a result, I don't need to turn on my AC all the time, helping reduce my electricity bill. The science behind its good cooling performance is a common concept of physics: when air flows on surface of water, such as on the surface of a lake or ocean, the evaporation from the water absorbs heat. It takes the heat from the water and the environment when liquid water changes to the vapor. When wind blows from water surface, the temperature of the wind will drop. This is why the wind blowing from lake or ocean gives people a pleasant cool breeze on land. When the wind blowing on the surface of cool water, the wind will bring cooler breeze to the land. This is why putting cold water in the water tank will have better cooling effect. Due to the evaporation not high enough, the fan doesn't drop noticeably the room temperature. To drop the room temperature noticeably or significantly, the fan has to be designed in such a way that the air flow from the fan has to pass through the water from the bottom of the water tank and then bubble to the top of the water tank or finding a way so that the air would blow pass several thin layers of water before being released to the room, which will generate much heavier evaporation and much larger temperature drop, leading to a side-effect: unpleasant large humidity.

No on/off button on device. If you lose or break the remote, you are out of luck
The fan is portable in the sense it is light weight and you can move it. However, it does not have a battery. So, a USB battery pack is needed if you want to use it away from a power source. USB-C cable is a plus. The instructions are partial. For example, the two setting cloud icon button (#4 of 4) is not documented anywhere. The matching cloud button on the remote is labeled "cooling button". It has three states: no lights, left light on, right light on. There is no explanation of what these settings do: Difference between the two light states, for example. With current humidity at 59% and current temp around 81F, there is a 1.5 degree difference between ambient air temperature and the air existing the device with water and two ice cubes placed in its tank. Will probably keep it. But, would not recommend it.

Used On Vacation
Update: The power source matters. Using a power bank, this works perfectly. Ironically when I plug it into an outlet, the high level doesn’t work and i have to turn it on then off again to get the other two levels to work.I bought this to visit my parents, then leave it for my dad who mows the lawn in the summer or return it since I have a small fan at home. He didn't want it. I ended up using it as a night fan while on vacation then keeping it. The remote came in handy, allowing me to change levels from bed. I use a power bank to make it portable.Unlike the smaller one that I have, water doesn't fall out of this when carrying it. It's a better build, hence the price. I use my A/C less because of this on milder days.If there's a con, I'd say don't expect a very strong wind flow nor to feel it in dry heat outdoors. None that I've tried meet those expectations. It's a cooling fan with a mist, not an air conditioner. I'm happy with it.

Still waiting
My husband is a woodworker and uses our garage for this and it gets hot in there. It’s about 400 sq ft in size so I ordered two of these thinking it would do the trick. I’m still waiting for the results I read about in the reviews. So far all I’m getting is a fan with a slightly cooler feel to it. No way has it decreased the uncomfortableness in the garage at all. Having the unit right in front of your face works but I could of done that with a regular fan and a cold washcloth over it. I tried more ice then water this time and am waiting to see if that makes a difference. If it does the. I’ll come back and give it a better rating but for now ….meh

Funciona

Pretty good for what it is
I ended up returning this product. So why do I still give it four stars? Because I'm not going to ding it for being exactly what it is - a midrange evaporative cooler, which only work at lower humidity. But what exactly does low humidity mean?Well, I live in Kansas City. My indoor humidity in June is around 60%. My goal was that this would make me feel cooler sitting in my home office at the warm end of the house. But at that humidity, this doesn't work any better than a tower fan, which is a lot cheaper.I did dock a star because the highest level of fan didn't work with the misting feature on. It kept blinking an error and going back to the lowest "on" state. The USB-C power is a nice feature since it adds portability options. The color-changing LED I found entirely superfluous.
