The white powder in the bag is not toxic if it leaks
The toxic salt meant to keep the wood dry in the bag is leaked all over the wood, but the seller got back to me letting me know thatโs okay.

We were anxious to "make" rum
Not a rum more like bitter cough syrup. We will stick to what we know and like.

Good infusion if you can handle the wait and the anise
I've tried a couple of other gin infusion kits, I feel like this has probably been the most interesting.I added this to a 1.75L bottle of New Amsterdam vodka - I definitely should have poured out a little of the vodka first! Very quickly I started to see the blue color start to appear. The first gin infusion I tried produced more of a "urine yellow", so the blue of this one was a nice improvement, but by the time I strained this, the blue had become more of a dingy grey.As other reviewers have said, the anise in this is very strong. I tried some on day 2 and it was really all I could taste. Not a bad thing if you LIKE that flavor, but I'm going for GIN here. I don't know for sure, maybe I just got used to it, but it seemed like, by the day 3 straining, the anise had faded a little and the other flavors came through better. It doesn't taste quite like any bottled gin I would compare to, but it's not bad. I'm a pretty seasoned and devoted gin (and whiskey) drinker, but I don't feel like I'm forcing this down at all. I do believe I'll miss it when it's gone.My biggest issue with this kit is the vague explanation of the included white packet. I saw dextrose listed in the ingredients and I didn't see any signs of powder in the juniper mix, so I assumed this is what the white packet was. It couldn't have been any sort of desiccant, as it was completely sealed in plastic. I opened it and tasted some and it was slightly sweet, so I assumed it was meant to go into the infusion as well, so in the bottle it went! I'm wondering if, at some point, the dextrose was mixed with the other ingredients rather than bagged separately, as the instructions basically just say "pour 2L booze over contents". I believe this is a good product, but some clarification about the white packet would make it better!

Makes your cheap liquor taste like expensive liquor
So, essentially what these kits are is a blend of mulling spices that make your cheap vodka or moonshine taste vaguely like something more expensive. If you go into it understanding that, I think you'll be really pleased with them!I ordered the Armenian Cognac kit, and it smells heavenly like vanilla, cloves, and walnuts. I haven't gotten around to actually steeping it in alcohol yet, but my husband just recently got into winemaking and he is so excited to experiment with it! There are basic easy-to-follow instructions printed right on the front of the bag.Fun little project or gift for the home brewer / distiller in your life!

Not exactly a gin infusion in my opinion.
If you are looking for a true juniper flavor, this will probably not do it for you. However if you are a fan of Jager, sambuca, or Ouzo, you will like this. If you don't know what that is and are not a fan of black licorice, you will hate it.For the directions I let it infuse for 3 days or a hair longer, turning several times a day and shaking up as well. At the end I strained twice through coffee filters which seem to be the easiest thing to do as you can see my pictures. The result was a slightly bluish purple liquid that was not cloudy at all. The biggest thing that you can taste in this is the anise. There were definitely plenty of juniper berries in the infusion mix but they were not very strong. My base alcohol was a corn based vodka from Iowa. For unique infused liquor this is actually quite nice for me. Drinking it straight maybe not so much but over ice and maybe with a splash of water is very pleasant.

Easy to use. Makes a great blue-colored, deeply flavored gin using vodka.
Very easy to use -- simply add the contents of the pouch to two liters of the vodka of your choice and in three days you will have two liters of beautifully blue, flavorful gin.We split the resealable pouch's contents into two, one-liter bottles of vodka and made our gin in the vodka bottles. There is no lot number on the pouch, but an expiration date of 01-07-24.More flavorful than typical mass-market gins -- this version has a deeper flavor with cardamom, cinnamon, and coriander. Lots of juniper flavor, too.Made in Siberia, Russia.A good value when priced at about $10 at the time of our review.

Have not used yet but exactly as advertized
Let's be real, this isn't going to be serious whiskey, first you start with vodka or moonshine then you add this stuff and in three days you are supposed to have whiskey. It gets 5 stars because it is the product they said I was going to get and there were no surprises. Why not just buy a cheap bottle of whiskey instead. I see this as more of a gag gift.

Tastes great with 85 proof Moonshine
Proofed some moonshine down to 85 proof. It said to use it with 80 proof but didn't want to add water so just went with the 85% and it worked great. Put it in for exactly 3 days turning it often. On the third day ran it through several layers of cheesecloth and got a perfectly clear blue gray liquor that tastes very much like a pleasing gin. The juniper and anise come through with a nice floral note.
