This Linden Wood Chest with Lock and Key is a one of a kind storage box for your trinkets, keepsakes, jewelery, memorabilia, or cufflinks and more. The box is made of Linden wood, is reinforced with feather joints, and the base of the interior is lined with red velvet to protect your personal treasures. The top of the box is decorated with a Celtic Lover's Knot design that has been burned and carved into the wood by hand. The so-called 'Lover's Knot', which is found carved in stone at Meigle in Perthshire, Scotland, is made up of four Triquetras enclosed in a circle, which symbolises both the feminine and the Sun, an important element of Celtic religion. A Triquetra Celtic Knot is placed over the keyhole. The most well-known Celtic knot symbol is the Triquetra, which has a number of different interpretations. According to many schools of thought it is a Celtic symbol of the three forces of nature - earth, air and water, or the three earthly domains - earth, sea and sky. Others suggest that it symbolises the triple aspect of the Goddess, i.e. Maid, Mother and Crone. The shape of the symbol, in fact, consists in three interlocking pointed ovals known as vesica piscis, which represent the birth canal and are frequently found in Celtic symbols of the Divine Feminine (see Sacred Well, Sheela-Na-Gig). It is also believed to be the inspiration for the Holy Trinity in Christianity. Handcrafted in Southern Poland's mysterious Tatra Mountains, this box is a unique Polish box. Farmers and shepherds settled into the Tatra region of the Carpathian Mountains called Podhale toward the end of the first millennium AD. During the winter months as their fields lay under snow, the farmers spent their days woodworking. Every member of the family participated in the decoration of these fine boxes.
