Q: does this shoe bend easily in the toe? I have arthritis in my toes and I need a very sturdy shoe that is stiff and doesn't bend easily.

It's more like a sneaker and less like a shoe in that respect - it may be too yielding for you. I've had stiffer 'sneakers' that annoyed me, and this I find very comfortable - so you may not. Hope that's helpful.

Q: How wide is wide on new balance shoes

I always wear a women's wide (D width) and sometimes even that is not wide enough. But the NB 411 white shoe fits ok. The black is slightly wider and fits me even better.

They have good arch support and should be good for standing in one spot

Enough to make them a lot more comfortable if you have any kind of a wide foot at all
