no problems, great whisk
(Updated) I received this chasen on 8/11/20 and have now, (8/29/21), used it every day for more than a year. It shows no signs of weakening or damage on the prongs, and I am not even particularly gentle with it. It finally did develop a crack on the hollow handle after about 9 months of everyday use. The crack has no effect at all since the handle is still completely solid. I like to microwave a cup of water for 3 min. until boiling. I then submerge the chasen in the hot water while sifting my tea. When softened by the hot water like this, the bamboo is quite sturdy and resistant to breakage.Update 9/25/23. Still good with no broken prongs and over 1000 times used. I guess this thing is just going to last forever.

Good Quality for the Price
I only recommend chasens from Japan as many from outside Japan are treated with some pretty nasty anti-fungal chemicals. It is always good to rinse your chasen with water before and after use and it is natural for the bamboo whisk to spread with time. For the price, this one is very nice for everyday use. I have a much more expensive one from Japan I use when I have guest, but for most this one will be fine for any occasion. If you are going to use this daily, I recommend a chasen-tate (whisk stand) as well, as it will dry better and give your chasen longer life.

Very nice
A well made matcha whisk. Well made and well balanced. Does a very good job whisking up a lovely frothy foam layer.

Well made for price, but sightly flawed and seems very see
The wish is excellent for the price. Some tines are a little uneven, and seen to be very delicate by comparison. But overall it's a beautiful and elegant chasen for a very affordable price.

good, not great. expensive for what it is.
yes, the whisk is made in japan. yes, it is better quality than mass-produced chinese whisks that sadly even japanese sellers offer on amazon.however, it is not good enough for the price. an authentic takayama chasen, of course, is much better than this. you can find very good ones without spending hundreds of dollars, maybe $10-$20 more than this. sadly, not on amazon, but still. takayama whisks last for a long time, there is really no reason to buy this chasen. especially, considering how expensive good matcha is. if you are hesitate buying directly from japan, maybe check out beautifully made korean whisks. amazon sell those. as always, the choice is yours.happy whisking!

Whisk is Holding on Great and Makes a Frothy Matcha
This is my first chasen. I love that it is made from pesticide free bamboo, and it is made in Japan. I soak the bristles it in hot water before I whisk my matcha tea, and rinse it and place it in the holder that I got to air dry, and the bristles are holding on great without any breakage. I don’t know how this chasen compares to those $100+ that I’ve seen at specialty stores, all I know it’s that with this chasen I whisk a very frothy matcha tea, and I love it! I highly recommend this whisk.

Genuine!
Every tool I've ordered from Haru Matcha, including this whisk, has been genuine and made in Japan. Make sure you soak the whisk for a minute before each use!

Good quality
The quality seems fine. I gave it 4 stars because only time will tell about the longevity. I use it every day, so if it doesn't withstand daily use I'll know relatively quickly.
